Wasson Has Contributed Less Than Nothing to Entheogen Scholarship

  • todo

Regarding the history of mushrooms in Greek & Christian history, Wasson has contributed nothing but obstructionism, and has contributed nothing, and less than nothing.

according to my “needs fact-check”, off-the-cuff talking in Egodeath Mystery Show episode 145a ~1:10:00

Wasson in no meaningful, relevant sense is “the father of ethnomycology”.

Bury him in narrowing qualifiers and emphasize his efforts to obstruct and impede the study of mushrooms in Christian history.

Wasson multiple times censored Panofsky’s twice-recommended citation of Brinckmann’s 1906 book Tree Stylizations in Medieval Paintings.

Wasson labored and went out of his way to prevent mycologists from conducting scholarly inquiry into mushroom imagery in Christian art, and worked hard to limit the engagement to insults, name-calling, and argument from authority, to strategically prevent & discourage actual investigation into mushroom imagery in Christian art.

Allegro was pretty wildly far off-track too. He only got one word right, ”mushroom’, and misconceptualized the meaning and role of that, as secret amanita, under the Suppression paradigm/ presupposition matrix.

I summed the contributions to the topic of psilocybin* in Christianity from Wasson, Allegro, and Hatsis, and it came out to 0.

3 Levels in Psalter: Beardless Left Foot, Beardless or Bearded Right Foot, Bearded with Funnel Hat Limbless

The moment you propose moving from a lower level to a higher level through a conditional gate, you immediately fall into forming Ken Wilber’s zillion-stage, 3-stage, 12-level ladder, by extending the concept of moving from an early level to a later, better level.

Climb the planetary spheres through the gates, starry sphere of fixed stars, & beyond the eternalism-ruled cosmos.

Funnel banquet row 1 right: no limbs.

Funnel row 2 right: beardless limbless guy attached to funnel guy who has no foot down.

Funnel row 2 middle: has usual limbs & positions.

how many looking right

3 Levels

1) naive possibilism-thinking = beardless, left foot down, right hand up

2) eternalism-thinking = right foot down, left hand up, beardless or bearded

3) qualified possibilism-thinking = funnel beard limbless, no foot down. hyper-transcendent, above the non-branching eternalism block universe level

consistency vs flexibility (tolerance, play)

🍄

A scheme that ends with eternalism, as level 2, can be out-marketed by a scheme that claims to be ultra-transcendent, having a level 3+.

or say 2+, for a simple model that can’t be surpassed:

possibilism then eternalism+.

qualified possibilism-thinking = eternalism+

entheogens/psychedelics – p 41 185 +251 274. Constantly mentioned on every other page of the book – but no index entry.

Kind of like I literally ask esoteric bookstore owner guy about psychedelics books “no we don’t have any ”

and I say “you do have them; they’re scattered everywhere, youve just scattered and diluted them, you’ve spread them around. you have plenty of them, you just don’t gather them into a section.”

Then he tells me bullsht fcking insanity nonsense false hoods and lies about “psychedelics burn a hole in your soul spirit aura” bull shiite 🐂💩->🍄

April DeConick 2016

I have hardcover first printing 2016, 6 years ago I read every line of this book, but now it feels like a new book I haven’t read.

To do:

  • read aloud each subheading
  • create a detailed table of contents
  • selected readings
  • read aloud wool’s rvw

James Woolseys review semi-correctly states her book lacks psychedelics. hope ppl get facts accurate, can be hard. psychedelics are constantly hovering in the margins of this book as a point of reference, though she mostly asserts gnostics achieved their psilocybin altered state by means of zen meditation; the usual bull shiite 🤥🐂

why dont you demonstrate this method for us, DeConick?

Mentions M. Hoffman 🤨 & Egodeath.com

I read every line and highlighted & re-found and read aloud today the psychedelics key phrases. Check index too, if claim her book lacks psychedelics.

Looks like some good passages worth (re)reading.

trying to articulate this idea that keeps coming up and I keep alluding to it when I ask :

why did browns get the color high-resolution image of the tapestry, if they had only one photograph and it was clearly the one with the caption, which is therefore the low-grade low Fidelity Young irvin collection photograph of the tapestry, and they used that to determine that this is not mushroom icon.

then why tell me why then did they bother to obtain later afterwards the high resolution photograph from the Abbey, if they already knew by that time, back when they only had the single lousy Young Irving Photo, they had already determined that this is definitely not mushroom icon, then why did they subsequently after they made that conclusion based on the one poor photograph, why did they afterwords go to the trouble to obtain the photograph from the Abbey, since they knew by that time that it was not mushroom icon?

It seems to me like they did not really believe what they claim to belive in the book, that it is not a Mushroom icon.

furthermore well why do they print in their book in a framing as if it is mushroom icon?

The browns functionally contradict themselves.

We’ve never seen such a thing before: self-contradiction, within the field of entheogen scholarship?? 🤯

tell me it isn’t so!

how can this be?! it’s unthinkable

made available to us by brown, realized during field work trip 😉🤞

This 🍄 icon is totally not an 🍄 icon 👎🚫🍄 (so disappointing, this typifying example of the faded, misapprehension, false catalogs proffered by Jan Rush), as ardent advocate dogmatist Jan Irvin wrongly asserts.

Except when promoting Brown – then, soak-in the beauty of this glorious, totally 🍄 icon. 👍🎉🏆
🤫🤐 🚫🍄

In the music player title of the song that I uploaded yesterday it’s missing the camera emoji

📸🤥

I want to add that, I think it really is pretty essential

but I actually talk about maybe three different puzzles and mysteries

three distinct Mysteries including the missing citation

the Mystery of the Missing Citation in the Wasson/Panofsky (pair!😬) of letters

The Mystery of “the photograph held up to the window” – was there a 500-page b&w discount-edition book attached to that “photograph that you brought with you”, perchance?? 🤔

The Mystery of the rhetorical framing of the tapestry as entheogen icon evidence: is it a good 🍄👍, or bad🍄👎?? 🤔??

(thats prev ep)

The Mystery of the Adequacy of the Blurry Irvin Photo –

Browns say that the Jan Irving and John rush collections of images are poor fidelity and as a result of that, they lead to errors of interpretation.

yet browns in the book claim that they were able to use Jan Irvin’s photo that he provided of the tapestry was sufficient for them to perceive adequate recognition of the features of the tapestry vial (we definitely see flat base & serrations) to enable a definite assessment of whether the art item is an entheogenic icon.

You cannot blame browns’ error of assessment of the vial on the blurriness of jans image, because browns don’t say that “this Jan Irving image is too blurry to assess; we need to go to see the tapestry”;

they instead say “we looked at jan’s fair-fidelity image and were able to came up with a definite assessment, since we were able to hold the (500-page) “photograph” up to the window and definitely perceive flat base and serrations.”

what they did with those correct perceptions is a different story. they here make a negative and wrong assessment, but that wrong assessment was not because of blurriness of the picture

after they later attained the color high-resolution image they did not change their position and they continue to hold the same position and they published it carved in stone in their book the assertion that this high-resolution image just the same as they saw in the blurry Jan urban image both the high-resolution and low resolution images both yield the same assessment and that we did not need the high-resolution image to draw that same assessment but the high resolution image simply agreed with the conclusion we already reached from the adequate low resolution picture so We did not need the high-resolution image to realize that this is not Mushroom art.

browns never credit their recognition that it is not mushroom art to the later improved Fidelity which they were given by the Abbey high-resolution picture.

their story & claims are inconsistent. they don’t stay true to their own story in any significant way.

What Little Round Object in Hand? 🍄 Is Best Candidate

As wrmspirit like others asserted,

I reserved agreeing with the common statement that a little round thing in hand is probably a mushroom, but I agree, upon considering the tree of knowledge: the snake brings a little round thing often, and Eve hands to Adam a little round thing often.

So 🍄 is really our best candidate; that a little round thing in the hand is reasonably a mushroom.

Which is to be understood as the experiencing of non-branching mental mode which brings gnosis

so this is essentially the physical form of the physical packaging of gnosis

so to hand someone this round thing is to hand them a package of gnosis, which is a synthetic gelcap Johns Hopkins Psilocybin, A piece of paper, A little scroll to swallow to make the stomach bitter and have visions bringing the right limb non-branching experiencing and mental model.

analogical psychedelic eternalism

🍄 grows on host tree root, so is the fruit of the tree. Per Heinrich book 1994 I’m pretty sure; looks like fallen apple and my own photos/eyes confirm that.

Want Amanita? Be My Guest – But Don’t Impede Psilocybin

A back up of a reply to a comment, a mobile back up. I composed this pretty long posting in a scary two-line microscopic little editing window, which is a big risk of losing data.

I include Amanita images and I consider Muscimol same as an extinct strain of ergot: a sheer possibility, nothing but a question mark, a complete unknown.

Do you believe that Mystery Plant X was the main visionary plant?

I can’t say any meaningful statements about a completely unknown chemical about which the more we hear the clearer it becomes that it is unclear what the effects of this thing are

🍄 seems like 15 different effects all jumbled together.

it’s just a wildcard ; could be anything.

Amanita can produce any experiencing, any cognitive state.

So, pretty useless for building a theory on. Too vague.

I could construct an elaborate qualifier like to the extent that amanita produces loose cognitive association, without producing or requiring other, distracting, competing experiences – or to the extent that amanita is as high quality of a targeted cognitive loosener as Psilocybin, then we can treat Amanita the same as Psilocybin.

which one is the benchmark point of reference upon which is a solid rock that we can build a theory on as a specific point of reference for its experiential effects is psilocybin.

Then the question becomes: how efficient is amanita compared to the benchmark standard rock-solid point of reference, which is psilocybin?

Do not make amanita the point of reference benchmark, like most scholars try to do.

That role is reserved for psilocybin, which is completely determinate, completely known, and even used in today’s oh-so sophisticated clinics – tell me why don’t they use amanita, which is already legal?

but anyway, amanita doesn’t need any defense or help; it can do just fine. It’s already way over-supported;

we’ve got everybody except for Thomas Hatsis pushing and pushing and supporting and emphasizing Amanita at every possible opportunity, so 🍄 does not need my help, and it is a noxious weed that is actually shutting out psilocybin.

In practice, 🍄 is functioning to displace and shut out Psilocybin, which is the good stuff that people actually want.

Nobody wants 🍄 for the clinics.

Amanita is already legal; if you want it, then go ahead and order it by the truckload. 🍄 doesn’t need any help.

Functionally now, the way things stand, Amanita is the problem, not the solution.

🍄 is serving as a substitute, a decoy, a low-value weed, that no one wants to ingest, to shut out the good stuff.

Materialistic vs Experiential Entheogen Theories

from John Rush gallery i think dec 31 2020, crop by Cybermonk. clinicalanthropology.com

On the one hand, we have Shanon & Cybermonk (the Egodeath theory; analogical psychedelic eternalism)

and on the other hand, we have all the other entheogen scholars, all agreeing with each other about “the Mushroom”

I thought of that listening to 2/3 through episode Egodeath Mystery show 140B where I formulated the principle of artist responsibility against 1952 most influential art historian

Link might still work, at idea development page 13. Egodeath Mystery Show

damn this voice dictation awkward touch screen in her face interface

Erwin Panofsky

who solves the problem of artists meaning mushroom, by simply deleting the artists, and deleting consciousness, and deleting meaning –

presto, we have gotten rid of everything except the distorted Pine tree physical objects, in order to get rid of the mushroom physical objects, and any pesky humans with intention and responsibility and intent and meaning and reference

Art does not mean mushrooms, because art does not mean anything at all

we have managed to solve the pilzbaum problem by getting rid of the mushrooms and getting rid of the humans and getting rid of intention and consciousness and everything so that the only thing remaining is rocks and trees and definitely no mushrooms and certainly no intention of mushrooms, because we’ve gotten rid of intention, consciousness, and artistic responsibility

– brought to you by the most influential art historian of the mid 20th century, heyday of denying the existence of consciousness

Who other than me and Benny Shanon, is based in experiencing, based in phenomenology?

never was I ever based in physical mushroom object materialism, which like Jan Irvin gives lipservice

these guys make sure to mention the word experience , and then they go right back to their physical concretization in pursuit of the mushroom 🍄 object:

childish, concrete thinking, physical; materialist

in the key years 1986 1987 I made sure to never focus on the agent that brings loosening of cognitive binding, and that is one reason why I never heard of allegro I never read any of these guys in the field of entheogen scholarship

and so my core theory never had the taint of concrete physical limitation to that childish realm, but was always based in experiencing, 1 hundred percent, that’s where I come from, unlike others entheogen scholars

I dug in the other day to test again does Carl rock book called consciousness entheogen’s myth and human consciousness does it in fact contain the word consciousness and here’s what I found that it contains a bunch of gibberish academic nonsense words that don’t appear in the dictionary, used in weird ways

words like debranch, possibilism, eternalism; wtf , speak English!!

So it’s anybody’s guess who throws around obscure terminology like that

is this guy talking about consciousness??

it’s not clear at all what the hell he’s talking about

but I guess most relevant is the question is he talking about block universe world lines Branching nonbranching experiencing phenomenology?

or on the other hand is his Theory of Visionary Plants limited and restricted to the physical concrete materialist realm, and so based in that realm that this scolor only gives mere lip service to the word experience , once in a while, or put the word consciousness in the title, but just provide a bunch of gibberish instead, not really talk about the experiencing

There seems to be a convention in this field of entheogen scholarship, of a focus and a limitation to the concrete physical realm of objects materialistic

ironically since we’re talking about the agents which give the imagination flight and give rise to a different motive mode of experiencing which is very much not physical

but ironically we talk about it’s sort of like exoteric Esotericism – we have ordinary state based studies in altered state plants that focus on the physical plants, per materialistic science – where in the hell is cognitive science and phenomenology in all of this asc scholarship?
