I looked up what I had assumed to be a citation in Hermetic texts CH I 25 to back up Hanegraaff’s wildly nonstandard cosmos model – and this Hermetic text just speaks vaguely of rising through 7 zones to reach the 8th zone whereupon he received gnosis through power, and the cited text came as far as possible from corroborating him — Hanegraaff made up this whole unstable cosmos out of his own historians’ imagination!

Typical; contravening his own directives to “base the field of academic history of Esotericism on a scientific foundation, not on religious mythology”.

YOU DON’T CONTROL YOUR SOURCE OF CONTROL-THOUGHTS.

The point of mythic analogies, religious mythology:

I need to compensate for scholars losing their way in mythology analogies and irrelevant spins on entheogens by putting extra-strong, very pointed emphasis on non-control, and why it is of the essence, and the real meaning the experience meaning of fatedness in the heimarmene-revealing altered state – and fixed stars is referring specifically to that.

By Hanegraaff’s book Hermetic Spirituality messing with the placement of the fixed stars relative to the rebirth experience, he is unknowingly messing around with the actual referent of mythic analogies, which is:

the model of what the mind’s transformative experiential trajectory is in the altered state.

That’s what we’re actually talking about and referring to when we interpret religious myth, so that needs to be our primary point of reference and orientation, not myth and its confusing play based in analogies.

In the intense mystic altered state, what is revealed most of all, above all, is timeless fate, block-universe no free will; non-branching possibilities.

YOU DON’T CONTROL THE SOURCE OF YOUR CONTROL-THOUGHTS.

That point what all this central focusing on “heimarmene” is actually all about, and that point is what we need to be explicitly and frequently centering the interpretation and discussion in terms of.

To really focus on the central point: it is revealed that you are not in control of the source of your control thoughts.

Experiencing this point is the experience of ego death, {exorcizing the demon} of possibilism-thinking.

All of this analogy is really about that and nothing else, and we need to get that straight and then tell our analogy stories built coherently around that.

This is the meaning of the fixed stars and where they fit in our trajectory of mental transformation process development process of moving from the first world model to the second world model, which is analogically mapped to the fixed stars.

And then later, we talk about “transcending” that – but only in a certain limited, orderly, controlled and narrowly specified sense, transcending fate – which means transcending the revelation that you do not control the source of your control-thoughts.

The freewill egoic premise is fully shut out in this defined “liberation from Fate” or however you market and spin it.

That is the central point, the central altered-state revelation that is mapped to the central level: the most important, main, central level is the fixed stars.

That (representing control power stability) is the central point of reference.

So you need to be sensible in where are you place that: and that is the eighth level, as everybody held – especially in Egypt, especially at that time.

Hanegraaff has gotten lost in late antiquity’s complex poetic ironic talk about “transcending”, and he has gotten lost about visionary plants and he needs to do a reality check back in, that we are talking about what are the effects of the plants on the mental model regarding control power, and then how do we map that to analogy centered around the stars – which means of course the real stars, not his fake, confused planet “stars”.

I had a vision from God or one of Hanegraaff’s daimons: like often with academics, Hanegraaff is more likely not writing out of masterful contrarianism, but out of mere ignorance building preposterous sky castles without realizing that the result flies in the face of David Ulansey’s established standard cosmology model.

Hanegraaff simply doesn’t realize that his proposal is contradicted by the standard cosmology per Eudoxus, Hipparchus, & Ptolemy (regarding that the fixed stars define the 8th cosmic level) and Christians, Mithraists, Hermetists/Theurgists, and Gnostics (and Ulansey, myself, and Erik Davis) (regarding that the 8th cosmic level is heimarmene).

He has shed much light, but there remains much darkness within the backwards underworld of academia where they are filled with superstition and taboos.

This morning I proved that he is making his radical assertions out of mere complete ignorance, rather than out of some kind of a masterful transcendent bravado.

He simply does not realize that what he’s proposing contradicts literally everybody.

And so the situation is not that I am debating against a master of the subject, but rather, I am teaching a rank newbie the basics.

Hanegraaff needs to read David Ulansey’s book and hypercosmic articles.

I proved that Hanegraaff is writing out of pure mere ignorance.

The proof that he asserts his malformed and unscientific cosmos model out of mere ignorance is the fact that he never shows any evidence of realizing that what he’s proposing is completely non-standard, regarding effectively placing fixed stars at planet level seven, and then declaring level eight to be above cosmic heimarmene.

I will be making superficial corrections of this set of errors that he makes, but the deeper error is his too negative attitude towards heimarmene, which will produce control seizure/ instability.

We must surrender to heimarmene (God’s divine creation) in order to have control stability in the altered state.

And then after getting right with cosmic heimarmene/ block-universe determinism/ non-control of our source of control-thoughts, then we can slightly transcend heimarmene after that.

He needs to say level nine is above heimarmene, not level 8.

The fixed stars go in level 8 per the standard model. Wouter Hanegraaff needs to reference David Ulansey.

Any way in which we “transcend” eternalism must affirm, not deny, that eternalism is the case.

Wouter Hanegraaff’s Hermetic texts do not deny that eternalism is the case, they assert eternalism and they rhetorically aspire to, in some compatible senses, “transcend” (while yet affirming) block-universe eternalism.

The ultimate point and constraint is: you don’t control the source of your control thoughts – regardless of advanced, confusing rhetorical claims and aspirations of “transcending fate”.

The Pre/Trans Fallacy: Naive Possibilism-Thinking vs. Qualified Possibilism-Thinking

The pre/trans fallacy is hearing advanced sophisticated rhetoric of “transcending fate” by “rising above the 8th level”, and gleefully thinking like Hanegraaff seems to, “a way to make heimarmene not apply to me!” or “a way to make Heimarmene not be the case!”

The advanced initiate’s “freedom from eternalism” is NOT naive possibilism-thinking; it is very different: qualified possibilism-thinking.

Today on Egodeath Mystery Show Aug 17 2022 or maybe yesterday I connected Ariadne’s garment = branching-thinking = left limb.

We now in the psyche-revealing state perceive branching thinking like a removed explicit layer of clothing that hid the non-branching spear/serpent reality of monopossibility due to pre-existing thoughts.

The main crux point is non-control – BUT, a main thing experience that produces the experience of non-control is block-universe determinism / eternalism-consciousness.

This is a science book more than a spirituality book – provides a trustworthy foundation unlike the “scientific historian” Wouter Hanegraaff who struggles to prevent the fixed stars from being in the Ogdoad (8th sphere). Has Hanegraaff not read this book?

That’s quite possible, since as Luther H. Martin’s 2018 book (Studies in Hellenistic Religions) writes, scholars have disrespected Hellenistic-era religion and have been blind to astral ascent mysticism; spiritual ascent cosmology. Hanegraaff acts illiterate about theurgy when it comes to the fixed stars.

Hold up – what are “planetary constellations”?

Hanegraaff is intent on covertly silently moving the fixed stars (carrying heimemene) down from standard level 8 down into planetary wandering stars levels 1-7. What Hermetic texts justify this imaginal construction?

I’ve marked up the phrases in the book Hermetic Spirituality where provably, Hanegraaff’s project is to SILENTLY, covertly remove the fixed stars (and their heimarmene/ no-free-will/ block universe eternalism) from Level 8, and jam them covertly down into Level 7 (Saturn) by using the word ‘stars’ covertly silently redefined to mean planets.

Hanegraaff introduces massive confusion and conflict with the standard mystic cosmology levels.

He should say explicitly what he’s doing, and he should quote Hermetic texts to justify doing this or to explain why the location of the fixed stars remains an open question for him and explicitly explain how he strategically writes-around that knowledge gap.

On my show last night I realized: if you don’t state where the fixed stars are per Hermetic texts, then BY DEFAULT, they automatically definitely go in Level 8, as a cosmological given – after all, they have to go somewhere.

You can’t just keep Level 8 and then silently omit the stars (and their heimarmene payload/referent).

Of course I mean the REAL stars, not his deceptively misused word ‘stars’ by which he means the 7 planets.

Without his quoting texts, I have to provisionally conclude that he’s forcing a misinterpretation and producing a technically incoherent model.

He’s trying to sell us a cosmology with no fixed stars, only the 7 wandering planet-stars.

He assigns heimarmene/fatedness to Saturn (Level 7) at the highest; he says Level 8 is outside the heimarmene-ruled “cosmos”.

In the 3 main cosmology brands, Level 8 is explicitly where heimarmene and fixed stars are – his model is in severe conflict.

Hanegraaff is trying to fabricate a unique cosmology to exaggerate Theurgy’s differences from and distance from the other brands of Transcendent Knowledge: the shared standard cosmology of Gnosticism, Mithraism, and Christianity.

He can’t quote David Ulansey’s work, because the problems would be unavoidably obvious.

He makes outright self-contradictory statements regarding the highest location of heimarmene in relation to zodiac and Level 8 and 9.

A spiritual ascent cosmology without the fixed stars. His book doesn’t mention “fixed stars” except to say it’s an open question whether they are placed at Level 7 or 8.

He mentions ‘zodiac’ 3 times, and assigns Heimarmene with its daimon possession and fatedness at Level 7 or 1-7, the planetary spheres, not “the Ogdoad” (which is a fancy, magic-word, obscurationist way of saying cosmology Level #8).

To the extent that Hanegraaff permits the cosmos to have a zodiac of constellations of fixed stars, he demotes it to a planetary level, 7.

All extremely quietly and hard to perceive him doing this; it’s parenthetical half-stated remarks in footnotes, infamous Footnote 114: .

We need to read everything into this, and read it in a worst-case reading.

It’s evident he’s not just narrowly talking about music theory: all throughout his speeches and writings, he silently places the fixed stars and the constellations of them nowhere and tries to cover up his cosmic spiriting-away of the stars by covertly silently redefining the word ‘stars’ to mean the 7 planets, only.

Saturn … Whether the fixed stars should be included or should rather be associated with the Ogdoad remains an open question for me.

This confusing, highly non-standard misuse of words such as ‘stars’ and ‘constellations’ runs throughout his writings and speeches.

IN MY BOOK REVIEW, HE FORCES ME TO DEFINE THE WORDS ‘STARS’ AND ‘ZODIAC’ AND ‘CONSTELLATIONS’!

To helpfully point out to customers/readers that he silently, very confusingly REDEFINES these words, just like he tries to redefine the word ‘entheogens’ to mean its exact opposite: “entheogenic religion/practices (sensu lato)” – translation: non-drug psychedelics.

Did you know that cave meditation & imagination exercises produce intense loose cognitive ego death, cybernetic seizure loss of control, forcing a mental model transformation, with the same efficacious intensity as heroic doses of Psilocybin?

Except they don’t – so all his assertions about “other, non-drug methods can produce” are falsehoods.

Toward a Generalized Standard Model of Spiritual Astral Ascent Cosmology

Kirsty Pattison quotes a quote from start of Copenhaver’s book.

The entire quote is highly relevant, but here’s the key part: keep in mind 7 = Saturn = highest wandering star level, “cosmos” seems to not include fixed stars level per Hanegraaff, so 8th (which MUST be where fixed stars would be) is called “hypercosmic”.

“at the seventh zone the deceit that lies in ambush. [26] And then, stripped of the effects of the cosmic framework, the human enters the region of the Ogdoad;56 he has his own proper power, and along with the blessed he hymns the father… They rise up to the father in order to surrender themselves to the powers, and having become powers, they enter into God. This is the final good for those who have received knowledge: to be made God.”

That particular passage, in isolation, partly appears to support Erik Davis’ Led Zeppelin IV book page 118 about spiritual ascent cosmology levels.

Davis’ 2005 book lowers the Empyrean down from level 10 to level 8 (fixed stars/ eternalism) and halts, with (like my 1997 Core theory) no level transcending no-free-will. His concept of the Emperian is a block universe no-free-will model, not transcending that to reach (we can say) qualified possibilism-thinking; “transcending eternalism”. The spirit transcends Heimarmene, where the soul remains.

But Theurgy’s level 8 is seemingly above heimarmene – hard to tell; Hanegraaff hasn’t hammered on figuring out this point, it’s an open question for him where the fixed stars go so he is mute, and confusion is unresolved.

Against Davis, Mithraism/Gnosticism and Christianity have a level (or 2, or 3 subdivisions) higher than block universe eternalism, and that level is called the Empyrean.

Davis’ 2005 book presents a flattened model that doesn’t break out “heimarmene transcendence” into two levels like my David Ulansey Precession 2003 posting introduced/ explained/ modelled.

The ultimate goal/referent for Egodeath theory is, CLARIFY HOW IN MYTH, DEATH AND REBIRTH HAPPEN WHEN CONSCIOUS OF ETERNALISM.

My job is to neaten and explicitly reconcile the cosmologies and myth systems (to map them efficiently to the Egodeath theory), not confusingly, silently omit the fixed stars like Hanegraaff does and misuse the word “astral” and “stars” and “cosmos” to mean only the 7 wandering stars (planets).

Discussions of variant cosmologies and fixed stars and Heimarmene and Saturn map to the referent per the Egodeath theory: mental model transformation from naive possibilism thinking to eternalism thinking, and then to qualified possibilism thinking when tight cognitive binding resumes.

I rummage through spiritual writings looking for confirmation of the key principle WHERE THERE’S EXPERIENCING OF ETERNALISM, THERE IS MENTAL MODEL TRANSFORMATION.

I try to bring all religious mythology, all four spiritual cosmology-level systems into alignment in the clearest most consistent simplest way, and so I’m against variations among the four brands of astral ascent mysticism/ spiritual ascent cosmology.

* Gnosticism

* Theurgy/Hermeticism – does it have a deviant placement of the “Heimarmene/ eternalism/ no-free-will/ non-branching possibilities” experiential transformative realization in Saturn instead of at the other schemes’ standard location, “Fixed Stars plus the Saturn gate”?

* Mithraism

* Christianity

The mess that is the Hermetic text fragments, their vagueness about where Heimarmene is and where the fixed stars are, must be solved by:

I need to build a simple clear mapping from a 3-level Egodeath theory model to a savvy carefully framed Generalized Standard Model of Spiritual Astral Ascent Cosmology

Davis’ 2005 book presents an impressively clear understanding, & description, of my outdated 1997 model. : /

Davis didn’t find my 2003 upward expansion per David Ulansey’s book about “Mithraism = precession of equinoxes = transcening eternalism” in my 2003 posting which must be present at Egodeath.com because that posting was before Valentines Day 2004.

My 2006 main article, asserting transcending the block universe, didn’t exist for Erik Davis’ 2005 book Led Zeppelin IV pages 118-119 & 122.

There’s a whole cluster of specific questions I’ve identified, though: how much deviance is there within “Hermetic texts”?

Hanegraaff writes about aspects of that problem, and about: Which texts are actually Hermetic?

Do Hermetic texts discuss the sphere of the fixed stars (how could they not?)

How deviant is Hermetic texts’ spiritual ascent cosmology vs. that of Gnosticism, Mithraism, and Christianity? Especially regarding: what’s the highest astral[broad sense: wandering & fixed stars] level at which Heimarmene rules – Saturn, or fixed stars?

Erik Davis well-covers himself when he writes “various interpretations”.

Davis used my 1997 model not my 2003 model that’s informed by David Ulansey’s hypercosmic (percession of equinoxes transcending the fixed stars/Heimarmene) model.

My 2003 posting defining the standard astral ascent mysticism / spiritual ascent cosmology model became a subsection in my 2006 main article.

In my book review of Hanegraaff’s book Hermetic Spirituality, I will point out Davis’ “error” but also point out Davis’ right statement “interpretations varied”.

Then, where does that leave us, now that the Egodeath theory has mapped Hanegraaff’s book’s cosmology as best as Hanegraaff’s “open question” of where to put the fixed stars will permit?

I continue asserting my mapping of the Egodeath theory to the standard late 10-level cosmology model, but I note how to vary that mapping in case some Hermetic texts place an eternalism rebirth at level 7 (Saturn) or level 8 (fixed stars).

Hanegraaff needs to focus on the question of where the Hermetic texts put the fixed stars, which represent Heimarmene.

Expressed directly, the question is:

In the four spiritual ascent cosmology levels systems:

What’s the highest level at which Heimarmene and a kind of “death and rebirth regarding Heimarmene” resides: Saturn, or fixed stars?

Saturn threatens and “gates” the child-mode thinking.

Functionally, Saturn & fixed stars both together are treated as the gate – or possibly a pair of gates.

1) Pass through gate 1 to die and be reborn into eternalism-consciousness;

2) Pass through gate 2 to move from soul to spirit, qualified possibilism thinking, transcending cosmic determinism/ fatedness/ eternalism/ block universe.

First we die to possibilism-thinking and reach no-free-will/heimarmene/ eternalism/ block-universe awareness, and then, we transcend basic eternalism-thinking and end up with qualified possibilism-thinking.

Like two gates: Saturn as a gate, and then the sphere of the fixed stars as a gate.

Saturn together with the fixed stars can be treated as the key single point of reference for experiential mental transformation: no-free-will.

Hanegraaff’s book covers useful elements to map the Egodeath theory to (bolstering corroboration of that Theory, our understanding of the main referent of myth, explanatory coherence, etc.):

• reverence for the Source (pege) of all that exists
• exorcising negative daimons
• fear & trembling
• transcending heimarmene, astral fate
• entheogens, the intense altered state
• astral ascent mysticism / spiritual ascent cosmology levels

Say No to Non-Drug Entheogens

Kudos for Hanegraaff to taking up my criticism of his Dictionary of Gnosis for lacking the entheogenic altered state.

Hanegraaff’s imaginal construction of “non-drug entheogens” is an extreme overselling and over-elevation of cave meditation and imagination exercises, which are IN-CONTROL, thus PRETEND METHODS.

Those alleged, imposter methods are merely activities to do in the entheogen-induced altered state, and won’t make those activities effective at producing the divine transcendent loss-of-control ego death experience that forces the mental model transformation about control agency and possibility branching.

Against Hanegraaff’s book and keynote article, the word ‘entheogen’ by definition EXCLUSIVELY means substances – that’s the whole point and purpose of the word, per Jonathan Ott’s book The Angels’ Dictionary, and per Ruck and Wasson’s coining of the word. Really, by the exact same fallacious argument, this is tantamount to Hanegraaff proposing that we swallow the idea of “non-drug psychedelics”.

He wrote in his 2012 keynote article/chapter of the book Contemporary Esotericism, Entheogenic Esotericism (cited three times in this book, constituting 3 out of the 5 occurrences of the non-Indexed word ‘entheogen’) that he regretted not taking into account censorship, when he wrote about “no evidence for psychedelics in New Age” in his 1996 book.

He is not permitted to write realistically here. His treatment of this topic is constrained and censored so he puts forth the fallacious claim, in effect, that cave meditation and in-control imagination exercises actually produce the same intense and effective transcendent loss-of-control altered state that a peak dosage of Cubensis would produce, in a series of ten on-demand sessions.

Cave meditation doesn’t measure up to this Eadwine standard.

Hanegraaff’s imagination produces, using the fallacious argument “etymology of a word sets the meaning of the word”, he proposes the concept of non-drug psychedelics, in order to falsely and artificially claim that cave meditation “can”[despite doesn’t] cause the transcendent loss-of-control experience that maximum doses of Cubensis produces.

Cave meditation, and in-control meditation exercises, is not the kind of thing that produces loss-of-control and mental model transformation, as shown in Eadwine psalter folio page f134, leg-hanging mushroom tree and banqueting, self-threatening psalter reader, and two cybercides, in case one isn’t enough (both of them smiling, like Hanegraaff’s “thoroughly positive” depiction of Hermeticism).

Hanegraaff casually proposes to open the definition of the word ‘entheogens’ to include the enemy, the false claim that those activities are methods of producing the loosecog state. Such a modest proposal is unwelcome in the extreme, in the field of entheogen scholarship, and it’s offensive to allow these fraudulent imposters into the sacred space of actual entheogens.

Just say no to Hanegraaff’s worst idea of any academic ever: non-drug entheogens.

Hanegraaff “broadens current understandings” of the word, like robbing a bank broadens current understandings of making a withdrawal.

Hanegraaff’s 3-times cited keynote-speech article “Entheogenic Esotericism” renders the word “entheogen” unusable by scramling its meaning and redefining it to mean its exact antonym.

Against page 5-6 of Hanegraaff’s book, where he continues to propose “entheogens (sensu lato)”, which cites his 2012 article “Entheogenic Esotericism”: as I posted to the world-wide web eight years before Hanegraaff’s 2012 article:
