Jesus: Neither God Nor Man: The Case for a Mythical Jesus
Earl Doherty’s 2009 book Jesus: Neither God Nor Man: The Case for a Mythical Jesus, an expanded, 800-page edition of the 1999 book The Jesus Puzzle: Did Christianity Begin with a Mythical Christ? Challenging the Existence of an Historical Jesus
fwiw, ep153 parts a-c have lots of entheogen scholarship instead of ahistoricity 🥺 – great progress, solid commentary analysis (improved, useful, clarified critiques) fwiw. remainder has (will contain) mostly Doherty book readings im sure, parts d-i def ghi.
parts a & b & c all are 50% my usual devmt / restatements about entheogen scholarship, vialgate ramifs, Ruck school as functionally pushing the Minimal (not Moderate) entheogen theory of religion.
mobile app picks up edits made on desktop (instead of evil data-loss) IF you back out of site & restart app 🤨 (that wasnt the bug today)
About the 2nd Edition of his book, and about entheogen scholarship, the first 3 of my .mp3 file voice recordings out of ~10 are available to download, from Idea Development page 13. The remaining ~7 .mp3 files are close to ready for exporting/uploading, as of Noon June 5, 2022.
In this set of recordings, I discuss Earl Doherty’s (2005 &) 2009 book about Paul’s complete and self-sufficient high Christ shutting out Mr. Historical Jesus.
Episode 153 part a = Ep153a Unsystematic Theology – the 2nd half of this mp3 file is entheogen scholarship (Spot the Secret 🍄 Alchemy) critique.
Doherty tells us what Mr. Historical Authentic Paul actually conceptualized about Christ that has no place for Mr. Mundane Jesus.
Parts 1 & 3 (a & c) of my mp3s have more entheogen scholarship than realized.
like with my recent feb-may 2022 art analysis, this recording commentary from 7 days ago feels already outdated! superseded.
I’ve made such rapidly significant development the past few days of idea development, these recent statements have already been surpassed. eg my analysis of John Rush 2nd edition book’s blurb of February 22, 2022 – my commentary in part c mp3 is BEFORE my Idea Development page 13‘s color highlighting analysis which PROVED 2 things:
1) John Rush has grotesquely lopsided emphasis of Amanita single-plant fallacy at the direct expense of Psilocybin.
2) John Rush has grotesquely lopsided emphasis of early pre-Church Christian sects at the direct expense of any true narrative (per Brown) of the heavy PRESENCE Psilocybin (and Amanita) mushrooms WITHIN the mainstream Church in the middle ages.
My vocal discussion here is the direct source that blossomed into my color highlighting PROOF at my Idea Development page 13 the following day. so this recording part C demonstrates successful breakthrough idea development.
Ep153c Unsystematic Theology – Per parts a & c of Episode 153, so far Episode 153 seems solidly 50% about leading edge entheogen scholarship critique and leading edge field development, in addition to Jesus Myth Theory (Ahistoricity) per Earl Doherty’s spiritual-Christ replacement for / shutout of historical gospel lifestory Jesus.
Allegro’s theory in Sacred Mushroom book is that Christianity started from The Mushroom rather than was started by Mr. Historical Jesus.
Most Importantly, What Does Thomas Hatsis Say About Doherty’s Historical Research?
We need the verdict from a Real Historian:
What does Thomas Hatsis say about Earl Doherty’s historical research, since Hatsis has become the #1 follower of John Allegro now that Jan Irvin has exited this field of research?
Surely the great, exemplary historian Hatsis must have an opinion on this central Allegro-related question & field.
Brown disagrees with Allegro re: ahistoricity, what does Brown’s rival Hatsis say on this matter?
Someone oughtta look into Psilocybin mushrooms in ancient mystery religions.
M. Hoffman, editor for three decades, Ruck 🍄 scholars committee & Entheos Journal of Spot the 🍄, in his article/chapter Entheogens (Psychedelic Drugs) in Ancient Mystery Religions, 2015/2018
Ep156b Errata: 35:00 – I say twice “i saw online the first Entheos article, Effluents of Deity“, i meant Conjuring Eden (link below)
The present webpage/ posting summarizes, afterwards, the points discussed/ developed in the voice recordings. Text summary should be able to replace listening.
i developed interesting and more effective critiques of the aggressive “secret suppressed Amanita alchemy paradigm” that’s dogmatically pushed simultaneously with Ruck school presenting (silently) psilocybin art.
Totally bizarre situation: I rail against M Hoffman for writing in his 2015/2018 toxicology article “no one has looked into psilocybin in ancient mystery cults, but I argue that they should.” eg Ep156b 40:00
WHAT HAVE YOU AND RUCK BEEN DOING FOR 47 YEARS SINCE 1975?
file in the irvin Brain database under “sh!t that doesnt add up“
why doesnt the entheos ruck school acknowledge the psilocybin mushroom in Mithras’ leg, but twists this tauroctony into serving as Amanita evidence instead??
something seems oddly backwards in Ruck school’s extreme pushing of The Mushroom 🍄 at the expense of never acknowledging Psilocybin in their text narrative
Sharply differentiate between an entheogen scholar’s art evidence base vs their narrative about the 99.99%-100% absence of mushroom knowledge within the normal Church.
I proved John Rush = single plant 🍄 fallacy narrative book blurb second edition, regardless of whether his art data base includes some % psilocybin. regardless of if he writes, one measly time, “plants & fungi” – in between his relentless hammering on, all the time, asserting “The Holy Mushroom 🍄 Amanita“.
see my idea devmt pg 13 re: 2nd edition Feb 2022 John Rush my blue vs pink highlighting of key words of his book blurb.
I just found two days ago that Irvin’s book Astrotheology and Shamanism is explicitly to broaden Allegro’s theory.
Why Hatsis mistakes Brown & Cybermonk as striving to follow and broaden Allegro’s theory: bc Hatsis is only aware of the Irvin/Rush framework aka “the Holy Mushroom 🍄 theory”.
Hatsis needs to address Ruck school pushing a framework that’s almost the same as Irvin Rush.
Hatsis needs to realize that Samorini/ Cybermonk/ Brown are against the Rush & Ruck “suppressed 🍄” school(s).
The Ruck school’s narrative never mentions Psilocybin. It’s always Amanita, re Christianity. When you show them Psilocybin art, they write “mushroom” or stay silent. See Conjuring Eden article, it never mentions Psilocybin, even for Canterbury Psalter images.
Its not Hatsis’ fault for confusion re The Holy Mushroom 🍄 Theory; the Ruck school and the Allegro/ Irvin/ Rush school all have Amanita madness, seeing Amanita everywhere and seeing Psilocybin nowhere.
Brown actually sees more mushrooms than the Irvin/Rush narrowing, mushroom-excluding framework allows. Brown is a more ardent advocate than them. Irvin excludes Psilocybin and excludes The Mushroom 🍄 from the Church.
Irvin/Rush’s art evidence database contradicts their scorched-earth narrative.
Ruck at least covers this by his story that The Mushroom 🍄 was secretly encoded in alchemical encryption by 1-2 people in the eccelesiastical elite; The Holy Mushroom 🍄 was present within the Church, Ruck says: 1 or 2 elites, once, used it, one time. “Dont be so stingy”, Ruck tells Rush.
The Holy Mushroom 🍄 was only MOSTLY suppressed and forgotten within the Church, Ruck corrects Rush. This is the stingy, mushroom-minimizing “Moderate” (~= Minimal) entheogen theory of religion.
The LAME and self-defeating field of entheogen scholarship amounts to a pathetic argument over whether The Mushroom 🍄 was 99.99% absent from within the Church, per Ruck; or 100% absent, per Rush.
THESE ARE THE 💩”OPTIONS” that are presented to us by the Ruck Hoffman Heinrich school & the Allegro Irvin Rush school. F that!! says my 2002 Maximal entheogen theory of religion & Brown 2016/2019.
“Which shade of Moderate (aka Minimal) narrative /theory of presence of mushrooms in Christianity do you hold?” asks the God-forsaken field of entheogen scholarship.
the field of entheogen scholarship is wildly lopsided and EVERYONE (as i noted and rebelled agaunst in 2002) shares the field’s master paradigm of:
The entire field of entheogen scholarship = the assumption of suppression / Forgot / secret/ absence / 99.99-100% suppression of msh inside the Church,
yet in 2001 Conjuring Eden article in Entheos joural of psychedelic spirituality, I noticed that their own art evidence base – and all world religious mythology art – tells the opposite story, contradicting their “mushrooms (🍄) were Forgotten & Suppressed within the Church” narrative.
The Ruck school and the Allegro school force all mushrooms to be Amanita as The Mushroom 🍄, in a strong narrative that effectively shuts out Psilocybin.
Ruck allows The Mushroom (🍄) in the eccelesiastical elite only.
Rush’s textual narrative per his 2022 book 2nd edition blurb is that only in sects before the Church, only Amanita, and no mushrooms within the Church.
Conclusions section: Brown 2019
Brown’s 2019 article, following Samorini 1998 & Egodeath.com 2007 Cybermonk, counter-asserts in the Conclusions section, “mushrooms were not suppressed”, and explicitly includes Psilocybin, on par with Amanita.
“… Wasson’s views stymied research on entheogens in Christianity for decades after the publication of Soma in 1968,
a new generation of 21st century researchers has documented growing evidence of psychedelic A. muscaria and a variety of species of psilocybin-containing mushrooms in Christian art, consistent with Samorini’s typology of “mushroom-trees.”
The Psychedelic Gospels [2016 book] contributes to these entheogenic studies:
(a) by providing original photographs and analysis of psychoactive mushroom images in several churches and cathedrals in Europe and the Middle East;
(b) by arguing that based on the presence of these images in the high holy places of Christianity,
these psychedelic traditions were not suppressed by the Church, but were rather maintained for
the secret instruction of initiates
and possibly for
the education of the illiterate masses; and
(c) by proposing a psychedelic gospels theory, which hypothesizes that
these imagesrepresent an alternative history of Christianity, suggesting that
early and medieval Christians experienced healing, divinity, and immortality by ingesting sacred psychoactive sacraments.” [Psilocybin; also Amanita]
– Brown 2019, read rest of Conclusions too
Heading
… Just like the article Conjuring Eden points out a little, Allegro’s jarring, actually self-contradictory including of Plaincourault fresco.
Their textual narrative is disproved by their art evidence base that’s used to supposedly support the infantile childish crybaby narrative that “the Church suppressed & forgot The Mushroom 🍄”.
I look at religious church mythology art and I see tons of loosecog mushroom altered-state description heavy reflection everywhere, through the Renaissance era.
… until Modernity trashcanned Esotericism, and THEN finally I agree that mushrooms (Psilocybin, also Amanita) were forgotten – due to/ discarded by the Modern movement’s rationalism posture, not suppressed by the Church. As Brown 2019 article conclusion perceives, “NOT SUPPRESSED!”
Against the Suppression Assumption narrative that entheogen scholarship pushes, the art evidence shows that mushrooms (Psilocybin and also amanita) were densely throughout/within the medieval mainstream Church.
Cyberdisciple.wordpress.com webpage: “Against the assumption of suppression of psychedelics in pre-modernity”
M Hoffman says we have proved that The Mushroom 🍄 is the engine of mystery religions & mixed wine. Just as surely as kykeon has been identified as an extinct strain of ergot!
Ruck says the fact that Amanita doesnt work is proof that its use is appealingly secret, requiring elaborate processing, and the ancients fixed Amanita’s failure to work by adding Hatsis’ random toxic non-targeted witches brew of random substances eg special ivy
Conjuring Eden shows this Liberty Caps cap 3 times and never says psilocybin! 🤯 wtff?! yet he says “Amanita” every other paragraph, as often as possible.
Ruck doesn’t mention what type of mushrooms, he stays silent. Hey Ruck school, is this The Mushroom 🍄 like your narrative is always pushing? Why don’t you comment on what kind of mushrooms here? A Psilocybin cat got your tongue???
Ruck fails to try to identify the 3 Psilocybin plants in Psalter – God creates the sacred plants.
why “dogmatism” is a poor idea that made Brown make a major error. I speak at length on this. Egodeath Mystery Show Ep156a covers that.
i derived the orders that the Ruck school is subject to:
Never write “psilocybin” when discussing Europe or Meditteranean.
You may present psilocybin images in Greek or Christian art, but your text must always only say “the mushroom” or Amanita.
hallucinogen is a broken, false word. the more you use it, the more you spread confusion.
i have 3 hours of voice recordings from now; pm June 1 2022, to produce & upload as an episode of the Egodeath Mystery Show.
Shure SM57 miking 0 0 -10dB around 9-16″ first recording to R-07 deck til storage full , lost unknown minutes – lesson: always place “tape is rolling ” indicator right in front of you to continuously monitor it.
Ruck says msh in medieval church is 99.9 suppressed & forgotten
Irvin/Rush says msh in medieval church is 99.99 suppressed
Hatsis says 100% ;= 0 %. The early sects cults had no use of The Mushroom 🍄
But their art evidence says 100%; self-contradicts their narrative, in the same way as Allegro does.
Irvin multiplies the self-contradiction of Allegro’s use of Plaincourault. Rush follows him.
“These 1000 msh art images throughout Christian history prove that only the pre-Church Christian sects knew & used The Mushroom 🍄; the remembered forgotten “old tradition” was still present in 1300, proved by this art.”
the “Moderate” entheogen theory of religion is about as stingey as the “Minimal” theory.
Robert Graves says msh in medieval church is 99.99 suppressed.
only Samorini, Cybermonk, & Brown mention Psilocybin in medieval normal Church.
Allegro Irvin Rush & Rush show Psilocybin art but their text narrative is “Forgot & Suppressed & Absent is The Mushroom 🍄”
Regarding the history of mushrooms in Greek & Christian history, Wasson has contributed nothing but obstructionism, and has contributed nothing, and less than nothing.
according to my “needs fact-check”, off-the-cuff talking in Egodeath Mystery Show episode 145a ~1:10:00
Wasson in no meaningful, relevant sense is “the father of ethnomycology”.
Bury him in narrowing qualifiers and emphasize his efforts to obstruct and impede the study of mushrooms in Christian history.
Wasson multiple times censored Panofsky’s twice-recommended citation of Brinckmann’s 1906 book Tree Stylizations in Medieval Paintings.
Wasson labored and went out of his way to prevent mycologists from conducting scholarly inquiry into mushroom imagery in Christian art, and worked hard to limit the engagement to insults, name-calling, and argument from authority, to strategically prevent & discourage actual investigation into mushroom imagery in Christian art.
Allegro was pretty wildly far off-track too. He only got one word right, ”mushroom’, and misconceptualized the meaning and role of that, as secret amanita, under the Suppression paradigm/ presupposition matrix.
I summed the contributions to the topic of psilocybin* in Christianity from Wasson, Allegro, and Hatsis, and it came out to 0.
The moment you propose moving from a lower level to a higher level through a conditional gate, you immediately fall into forming Ken Wilber’s zillion-stage, 3-stage, 12-level ladder, by extending the concept of moving from an early level to a later, better level.
Climb the planetary spheres through the gates, starry sphere of fixed stars, & beyond the eternalism-ruled cosmos.

entheogens/psychedelics – p 41 185 +251 274. Constantly mentioned on every other page of the book – but no index entry.
Kind of like I literally ask esoteric bookstore owner guy about psychedelics books “no we don’t have any ”
and I say “you do have them; they’re scattered everywhere, youve just scattered and diluted them, you’ve spread them around. you have plenty of them, you just don’t gather them into a section.”
Then he tells me bullsht fcking insanity nonsense false hoods and lies about “psychedelics burn a hole in your soul spirit aura” bull shiite 🐂💩->🍄
I have hardcover first printing 2016, 6 years ago I read every line of this book, but now it feels like a new book I haven’t read.
To do:
read aloud each subheading
create a detailed table of contents
selected readings
read aloud wool’s rvw
James Woolseys review semi-correctly states her book lacks psychedelics. hope ppl get facts accurate, can be hard. psychedelics are constantly hovering in the margins of this book as a point of reference, though she mostly asserts gnostics achieved their psilocybin altered state by means of zen meditation; the usual bull shiite 🤥🐂
why dont you demonstrate this method for us, DeConick?
Mentions M. Hoffman 🤨 & Egodeath.com
I read every line and highlighted & re-found and read aloud today the psychedelics key phrases. Check index too, if claim her book lacks psychedelics.

trying to articulate this idea that keeps coming up and I keep alluding to it when I ask :
why did browns get the color high-resolution image of the tapestry, if they had only one photograph and it was clearly the one with the caption, which is therefore the low-grade low Fidelity Young irvin collection photograph of the tapestry, and they used that to determine that this is not mushroom icon.
then why tell me why then did they bother to obtain later afterwards the high resolution photograph from the Abbey, if they already knew by that time, back when they only had the single lousy Young Irving Photo, they had already determined that this is definitely not mushroom icon, then why did they subsequently after they made that conclusion based on the one poor photograph, why did they afterwords go to the trouble to obtain the photograph from the Abbey, since they knew by that time that it was not mushroom icon?
It seems to me like they did not really believe what they claim to belive in the book, that it is not a Mushroom icon.
furthermore well why do they print in their book in a framing as if it is mushroom icon?
The browns functionally contradict themselves.
We’ve never seen such a thing before: self-contradiction, within the field of entheogen scholarship?? 🤯
tell me it isn’t so!
how can this be?! it’s unthinkable
made available to us by brown, realized during field work trip 😉🤞
This 🍄 icon is totally not an 🍄 icon 👎🚫🍄 (so disappointing, this typifying example of the faded, misapprehension, false catalogs proffered by Jan Rush), as ardent advocate dogmatist Jan Irvin wrongly asserts.
Except when promoting Brown – then, soak-in the beauty of this glorious, totally 🍄 icon. 👍🎉🏆🤫🤐 🚫🍄
In the music player title of the song that I uploaded yesterday it’s missing the camera emoji
📸🤥
I want to add that, I think it really is pretty essential
but I actually talk about maybe three different puzzles and mysteries
three distinct Mysteries including the missing citation
the Mystery of the Missing Citation in the Wasson/Panofsky (pair!😬) of letters
The Mystery of “the photograph held up to the window” – was there a 500-page b&w discount-edition book attached to that “photograph that you brought with you”, perchance?? 🤔
The Mystery of the rhetorical framing of the tapestry as entheogen icon evidence: is it a good 🍄👍, or bad🍄👎?? 🤔??
(thats prev ep)
The Mystery of the Adequacy of the Blurry Irvin Photo –
Browns say that the Jan Irving and John rush collections of images are poor fidelity and as a result of that, they lead to errors of interpretation.
yet browns in the book claim that they were able to use Jan Irvin’s photo that he provided of the tapestry was sufficient for them to perceive adequate recognition of the features of the tapestry vial (we definitely see flat base & serrations) to enable a definite assessment of whether the art item is an entheogenic icon.
You cannot blame browns’ error of assessment of the vial on the blurriness of jans image, because browns don’t say that “this Jan Irving image is too blurry to assess; we need to go to see the tapestry”;
they instead say “we looked at jan’s fair-fidelity image and were able to came up with a definite assessment, since we were able to hold the (500-page) “photograph” up to the window and definitely perceive flat base and serrations.”
what they did with those correct perceptions is a different story. they here make a negative and wrong assessment, but that wrong assessment was not because of blurriness of the picture
after they later attained the color high-resolution image they did not change their position and they continue to hold the same position and they published it carved in stone in their book the assertion that this high-resolution image just the same as they saw in the blurry Jan urban image both the high-resolution and low resolution images both yield the same assessment and that we did not need the high-resolution image to draw that same assessment but the high resolution image simply agreed with the conclusion we already reached from the adequate low resolution picture so We did not need the high-resolution image to realize that this is not Mushroom art.
browns never credit their recognition that it is not mushroom art to the later improved Fidelity which they were given by the Abbey high-resolution picture.
their story & claims are inconsistent. they don’t stay true to their own story in any significant way.

I reserved agreeing with the common statement that a little round thing in hand is probably a mushroom, but I agree, upon considering the tree of knowledge: the snake brings a little round thing often, and Eve hands to Adam a little round thing often.
So 🍄 is really our best candidate; that a little round thing in the hand is reasonably a mushroom.
Which is to be understood as the experiencing of non-branching mental mode which brings gnosis
so this is essentially the physical form of the physical packaging of gnosis
so to hand someone this round thing is to hand them a package of gnosis, which is a synthetic gelcap Johns Hopkins Psilocybin, A piece of paper, A little scroll to swallow to make the stomach bitter and have visions bringing the right limb non-branching experiencing and mental model.
