What very little Dumb-as-an-ox says in his latest book, about the topic of mushrooms in Greek and Christian art, is a solid wall of mistakes; and hopelessly confused, garbled position statements, not worth rebutting.

Why does he think he knows enough to write anything about this topic of mushrooms in Greek & Christian art?  He doesn’t know anything about the subject.  He doesn’t know the difference between a krater and a cista mystica.

Any further denial of mushrooms in Greek & Christian art, I now consider to be a hostile cover-up attempt to try to hide the undeniably obvious, not a real position to take seriously.

f anyone who thinks this is bad writing! If you don’t think this is the most interestting thing in the world, adding peak interest value to the Intro section of this article, you are brain-dead. I had a bit of a block to deal with, around dismissing “freewill-thinking”. I ended up *controlling the framing* of it, by putting the phrase WITHIN “a branching model of time”. Don’t just say “trash-can freewill-thinking” — you instantly lost 90% of the audience. Say “trash-can freewill-thinking that’s within a possibilities-branching model”.

Here’s the problem paragraph:

The mushroom tree is depicted within the flow of this image, in such a way as to make the image serve as a system, a transcendent communication and message, a device; a labyrinth mechanism which pulls-in and pulls upward the mind’s self-control system.

The image is a message from on high, from the altered-state mode of God-aware loose cognition, that draws the mind into self-testing, and leads the mind toward its mature potential for controlled cybernetic control-seizure of self-transcendence.

Following and tracing the message that is communicated in this religious image, inexorably culminates in the sacrificial self-cancellation of the mind’s incoherent, childhood-suited illusion about personal control power that’s based on a naive, incoherent branching-possibilities model of time and control, premised on confused, irrational thinking.

Only after that completed education in the ordinary state, the candidates for initiation who pass the examination, can become full-on initiates, who are prepared and ready to engage in entheogenic, real-world, in-practice, first-hand experience, of the experiences which are described, or encoded for communication, by analogies in religious mythology.

Religious mythology depicts the loose cognitive association that is reliably and strongly produced only by entheogens, a state that produces mental dynamics that are described as mania, frenzy, or rapture by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This proof presented in this article shows that there has been, in effect, something like a cover-up, to make the entire world of religious scholars blind to the blatant, explicit, obvious, more-or-less literal presence of mushroom depictions all throughout Greek and Christian art.

We merely need to ignore the cries of objection from the Brinckmann/ Panofsky/ Wasson camp, those on the outside, to remove and simply move aside the cover-up and then we can easily, plainly, readily recognize that mushroom trees, and mushroom thickets, and branching and non-branching mushroom shapes and forms in Christian art, of course represent psychoactive mushrooms. Why would anyone have thought otherwise?

The brilliant, genius conclusion that in religious, mystical, mythical art, images of mushrooms represent mushrooms (shocking; who would’ve thought!), is obvious when we consider the matter sensibly from the perspective of mythemes that describe by analogies, the mind’s high potential to test itself and transform its mental model.

The mind’s built-in potential to test and challenge and probe its power over its own self-control-thoughts while in the loose cognitive state, produces regeneration into the adult form of thinking.

Back when I added this image a few days ago, I noted its’ mushrooms in the mushroom cap, but I was focused on de-emphasizing the “literal depicition” evidence of muhsrooms, suppressing htat mode of argumentation, and emphaising instead, branching (experiential transformation effects of mushrooms, as evidence of Christian art).

HOWEVER, now that I have tightened-up the definitions of the 3 types of evidence, I did a web image photo search on Liberty Cap mushrooms, and DAMN, this is a 10/10 as far as “literal depictions of mushrooms’ physical form”, in Christian art. I didn’t realize or press the case to confirm, against photos, the identification — I’ve seen them first hand, a lot, so hardly need photos — I’ve even seen them in grass in the shade in the desert at a gas station, in Summer.

If you wanted to depict the form of Liberty Caps, could you possibly paint a more botanically accurate literal depiction?!

I barely made mental note when I first pasted the image into the “Criteria” article, and refrained from even mentioning it — but, I HAD to now add text and image-search link, this is 10/10 evidence of the “literal depiction” type, really filling-in the article with all 3 levels of evidence:
1. literal depiction,
2. depiction of isomorphic mushroom-shaped item;
3. depiction of analogy describing high transformative effects of mushrooms.

Increased Certainty of Leg Positions on Salamander; back-reflection or cross-image decoding

This is very thought-provoking, very significant, that after my big Canterbury hanging-mushroom article, I now have a infinitely more confident view, on this image. Now, when I see it, it’s striking how I feel,

Then I speculated (at Yahoo Group) in 2015 that left leg/foot = Possibilism , right = Eternalism. with certainty of 7/10.

Then, I decoded Canterbury a few days ago, and imported that decoding-hypothesis, with certainty of 7/10, and for Canterbury, I reached 10/10 certainty that in that image (which mytheme-illiterate Dumber-than-an-ox calls “dancing”, which I never believed), same assignment/decoding.

Now, I come back to this pic, and now, b/c of Canter success, it INCREASED my certainty on this pic:

Now, I consider it 10/10 certainty, that my reading on this pic legs is correct. No longer 7/10.

Also, my ability to decode the mushroom-tree & salamander-serpent to the left, also supports up-ing my certainty on his legs from 7/10 to 10/10.

Meanwhile, he’s trying to sell his field as relevant and exciting!

With his several articles on Psych’s, he happens to be aligned w/ the trendy New Psych Revolution, I’m sure he’d dislike much of its worldview/tone.

[Nov 28 2020] Correction of below: I didn’t see (this year) the mushroom tree/sword first at Ancient Psychedelics site, but rather, at Sam Woolfe’s site. I think I saw the image years ago, maybe, but didn’t think in terms of decoding it.

Ancient Psychedelia site gave me[sic] the image-fraction b/c had the msh in it, but wouldn’t you know, THAT MSH TREE HAPPENS TO BE USED BY THE ARTIST TO SHOW THE VERY HIGHEST CENTRAL ANALOGIES IN THE WHOLE PSALTER IMAGE/PAGE. So, dumb researcher (30 years) got a mushroom-fixated fraction of the whole image, which JUST HAPPENS TO BE used/chosen/selected by the monk-artists to show the key message, of:

Possibilism = branching-thinking causes you to “die” on mushrooms; become non-viable as a control agent.
Eternalism = non-branching thinking brings you life, rescue, viability, salvation and gnosis and right relation w/ God.

The monks selected the msh depiction as the area/feature in the image on which to convey their highest message, which resonates like a blade into oneself all through the whole image. They made the msh depiction the central, most important part/area to communicate the highest message. That’s like I’ve said, TREUE, kids just want kicks (ppl accuse) from msh, but, they end up like Zep “Take My Body SHom”, getting ultimatate mythic-level max drama and gnosis salvation instead. Dumb researcher (30 yrs) crops pic to show only the msh supeficial form; he accidentally thus selects/isolates only the very most important part of the pic (w/ Teacher with Students and Pink Key Tree throuwn in, but ignored by that researdcher and by me.

Dumb me, and dumb  Joshua Bempechat both fixate on the msh, and accidently, we took the monks’ bait, and we ended up hanging above the sword, gaining gnosis.

“decode”? sort of; I had such huge head start, “decode” seems to overstate the activity. More like merely “apply existing decoding-hypothesis”. It was actually a matter of tentatively applying an existing decoding from another piece, the Salamander from Bestiary, which Dumber-than-an-ox ineptly critiqued Irvin’s long-ago publishing of the pic.

So, when I started decoding this totally isolated cropped image in isolation a few days ago, I had a huge head-start, plenty to comprehend “at risk of dying from sword on mushrooms” was not a problem for my expertise to grasp and explain; I merely had to move from
0. “one foot is good, the other foot is bad” [decoding imported from my 2015 rebuttal of Dumber-than-an-ox) to
1. “right foot/leg is good, left bad”, to
2. “right hand is good/secure, left hand is powerless/chaos-headed”.
3. right limb is good/secure, left limb is bad/insecure.
These were very easy individual jumps, to get started decoding the tree portion of the Hanging Man illum manuscript comic top-left 1/3 of a row blurry.

Weirdly, when I started decoding that zero-context cropped image [which I first found at Sam Woolfe’s site -mh nov 28 2020] about 3-4 days ago, I was totally dull-eyed re: pink tree. I made no use of it, stupidly, until AFTER I figured out all the “hard” parts — I only served as a Confirmation #3 that my interp was sound/coherent/consistent. I need to read that decryption book someone gave me, to have better words than “sound/coherent/consistent”. When you decrypt text, it’s obvious when you succeed, I think. You either get total gibberish, or you get an intelligible message. You don’t get a totally intellibile, consistent message and go, “You have NO evidence that the orig message said that.” There is no question, no doubt, when you solve a puzzle. It is OBVIOUS you solved it, and my guide is, I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT FOR NOT INSTANTLY SEEING THIS DECODED MESSAGE — *that* is PROOF. I proved the tree is psil. How did I prove it? My interp (decoding, hypothesis, theory) produces a 100% intelligible coherent message. What’s Dumber-than-an-ox gonna say,

“Just because you were able to extracted/projected onto it a 100% intelligible, lofty, complicated, coherent message, is NOT PROOF THAT IT’S PSILOCYBE. Maybe you completely misread and forced your decoding.”

Oh yeah? What’s *YOUR* interp of it? “It’s just random”? “It has no meaning, because I say so”?

… — the key central part of the image, which is, it so happens — should it surprise us? The mushroom tree. There is much more meaning around the mushroom tree than God, as far as analyzing sections of the top row. I didn’t know there were two more rows below it.

So, the historical happenstance of my successful decoding — which I feel fine about — is that I decoded the mushroom tree in total mentla isolation, without any awareness that it was part of a big comic-strip page.

That is, I had no awareness of the following panels: Teacher with Students, … here is the image that I started with: the log page currently shows the poor-quality, highly cropped image, which I successfully decoded (mushroom tree … I really knew nothing about where this picture came from; no sense of context at all; perfect mental isolation.

Given *only* this picture, knowing nothing whatsoever about where it came from, in fact believing it to be an isolated picture with no surrounding imagery, I was able to decode the most key aspects (only): the bare, basic concept, that … for the record, I still am perfectly lily-pure: I don’t know anything at all, zero, about the Psalter. Is it England, I guess? France?

No one has time for such trivia. Here’s the picture that was literally the ONLY thing I knew, when I started doing longer and loonger commentary on it, either in the REALTIME LOG page, or in the CRITERIA areticle: I identified the situation of “at risk of cybernetic blade of control-loss unless you repudiate Possibilism and build-up and affirm the Eternalism mental model”.

I didn’t exactly “decode” left and right; I simply applide that idea from an unrelated piecce eg the salamander bestiary image, which I first commented on and speculated about left/right legs bieng Possibilism vs Eternalism, back in 2015.

So I merely had to apply an existing hypothesis; “Can I apply my speculation from my critique against Dumber-than-an-ox 2015, that the man is not “dancing” but is repudiating Possibilism and affirming/relying on Eternalism?, to this image too?” So, unfair. That is why you — against maybe Dumber-than-an-ox’s strict cordoning off the bestiary as “mushrooms here would contradict the mushroom interpretation of Christian art, b/c this is not *religious art* (bestiary). I totally disagreed with that whole premise of segregation. I enjoyed an author’s books about the otherworld, around 2006. Stupid idea to propose a strict division between “religious vs non-religious art”.

That’s the hypothesis formation phase of scientific discovery in the field of Loose Cognitive Science.

This is not the first time I thought of that hypothesis, so, there must be Phase 0: early hypothesis-formation, the most tentative, like in past years when I demurely fleetingly dared to wonder, not boldly yet, whether the dog-watering bowl in the Dionysus Triumph mosaic is Amanita.

Increased Certainty of Mytheme Decoding Over Time: {leg}; The “Breakthrough Rush” Experience

~5:40 p.m. November 17, 2020 —

Now in this present hypothesis-formation phase, I feel a higher degree of confidence that when I check data, read Ruck re: {one foot}, not that I have yet a particular very specific decoding to commit to, but rather, I have fairly high confidence that my decoding of {leg} = a mental model of control (Possibilism or Eternalism), will somehow or other, successfully decode whatever Ruck is covering re: the one-foot people.

I can’t remember what-all he says, so in that aspect, this is a very tentative hypothesis, to test — sort of like where I was in early December 2013, when I had a strong breakthrough under my belt but I was looking for test-cases, like bending light around the sun to confirm Relativity/gravity bending of spacetime.

Looking for test-cases to use to test the theory.

A breakthrough is 1 hour of breakthrough rush, then 1 day of cleanup, then potentially, weeks and months of build-out. As late as now, 5:23 p.m. November 17, 2020, I’m still processing the breakthrough, cleaning up, reflecting.

Realtime Decoding-Discovery Log During the Breakthrough Rush of Decoding — but not only “during the Rush”; ie, what does that time period mean? There’s the Peak Rush, there’s the 16 hours of aftermath, there’s days and weeks after that.

I’m realizing that the aftermath refinements are very important part of the Discovery process too, during the following 16 hours of cleanup & refinement.

In the case of November 2013 (in some ways, the biggest rush breakthrough), the peak rush (1 hour?) was followed by a full week of shaking, announcements/messaging, followed by months of research and corroboration and build-out of the Theory for interpretation of mythemes, and into 6-8-12 months after that.

The January 1988 breakthrough was the other major of the two huge breakthroughs I’ve had – there was lots of intensity there, but not like 2013’s week of shaking. I have yet to explain the difference between those two huge peak breakthroughs.

1988 mega-breakthrough: enlightenment, ego transcendence, is actually about experiencing block-universe no-free-will, not as Journal of Transpersonal Psychology frames it.

2013: tree vs. snake = Possibilism vs Eternalism. This seems like merely condensing my 2006 great theory of mytheme decoding.

This realtime discovery notebook proves that a literal photorealistic depiction of a mushroom form in art is sometimes LESS evidence that it’s specifically a psychoactive type of mushroom, than non-photorealistic depictions of mushrooms, which bend the image to force it to message that there’s something very profound to discover in the mind concerning branching.

When the image depicts messages like branching = gnosis, is it established that the context is the altered state, loose cognition from entheogens, thus an entheogenic type of mushroom.

What Is the Sitting Man in Tree Pointing[sic] At?

Now that I’ve formally written up these decodings of the two images in the “Criteria” article, I need to correct a couple statements, and also interestingly, revise which discoveries are most important. I now at 8:05 a.m. November 17, 2020, think that the guy sitting in the branch of the tree (i didn’t catch that, below) is actually pointing specifically to the floating foot – {floating foot} = Possibilism-thinking is no use for self-control stability in the altered state.

Further refinement 4:40 p.m. November 17, 2020, this subsection:

More accurately: pointing to the foot, as the center of focus, which is only meaningful when surrounded by the context around it.

It’s like pointing to the sword and branching and both legs and the wise men, but saying the central focus is here.

So, it’s true he’s pointing past the foot to the far cap’s underbranches, but by the same token, he’s pointing to the sword and entire image.

It’s concentric; the branch-sitting man’s pointing means, “concentrate your analysis around this point in this image”.

That zone of the image, though, depends on the rest of the image, such as the branching under the mushroom caps, and the sword.

All elements are important; it’s holistic — the pointing merely means that “the meaning of all the crucial elements (branching, mushroom, sword, left leg, right leg) is centered around this spot“.

I less and less think he’s pointing at the branching of the tree (under the cap), which is 3x further away than the floating foot. Unbelievable coincidence, these pairs of images have same elements to cross-solve the two puzzles in conjunction: floating foot in both images.

Proximity demonstrated (it is important for decoding these images) in both of these images (I need to write that up a little): pointing near the floating foot; salamander near the odd mushroom stem branching.

Then I remembered by interpretation-theory development/discover of 1-2 days ago speculating and writing-up the Eden trees regarding their underside branching, and their other branching, in my “Criteria mushroom trees” article.

How I trajectoried [ie what my train of thought was during the rush of the discovery process]: I brought up the picture, decided if to crop it, thought “omit salamander on fire… first check the vertical salamander in the middle – what’s his altitude of head vs. cap of the mushrooms?

Is the guy’s heart at same level as branching?

Then i noticed CONSCIOUSLY FOR THE 1ST TIME — that this mushroom has 1 stalk, IT BRANCHES INTO TWO then back into 1 [later cleanup: strike “then back into 1; they do support 1 cap”], which for idiots means “it cannot be Psilcocybe”, but 4 those on the inside, who Know Branching, the branching message is PRECISELY what makes it proves that it is enthoegenic (Psilocybe specifically).

What is that circular shape and wavy blue shape on the right side of the image? The right foot and the sword disappear behind it or go into it.

The hanging man’s right hand touches the debranched stump, while his right foot touches whatever that is on the right side.

The sword, which presumably cut the stump, extends to whatever is on the right side.

Is whatever is on the right side a representation of the control source that provides stability? [good thinking, test this decoding-hypothesis, thank you for finding the whole picture, for context, and opportunity to do more mytheme decoding hypoth testing]

That is valuable feedback, that this process of discovery can be interesting as distinct from what’s discovered.

I even incorp’d a lot of that meta-discovery into the relatively formal article (now broken into 2) about ‘Criteria of Proof’. Need to keep it kind of separated out of the way, not impede simple summaries.

In this new field of Loose Cognitive Science, it is important to pro-actively position the field to help make it easy for people to think about whether it is an organized field with a process that relates to at least schoolboy-level “The Scientific Method”.

On exams, Show Your Work.

In the “formal” articles, I wish to have separate summaries, vs. meta-description of the Conceptual Revolutions process.

As one who is subject to various degrees of first-hand experience of “breakthroughs”, it’s relevant to have a developed idea of what the concept of ‘breakthrough’ really amounts to.

Why did the 1988 breakthrough have a distinctive trajectory and feeling?

Nov 2011 vs Nov 2013 progress/breakthough on branching?
“Diamond Hammer of Interpretation” around then?

1988 vs 2006 vs 2013?

Why don’t I think of 2006 (Main Article, + necessary “tax”/evil of having to write Plaincourault article to clear stupid obstacles) as a “breakthrough” in discovery, but merely a breakthrough in Communication/presentation?

I’m now leveraging the fact that I failed to decode tree/snake then, that failure and later breakthrough-solution is interesting for meta-theorizing.

I knew that Moses’ snake on pole was unsolved, in 2006. That posed a perfect question, which I solved 2011 then really in 2013. 7 years to decode Moses’ snake on a pole.

When I pub’d the Main Article in 2006, Sally pointed out “You don’t grasp the meaning of {King on Cross} in Antiquity”, so I roughed an article then about that.

How do you measure how “big” a breakthrough is? Gist of Thagard:
How many connection revisions, and how big the resulting scope of explanatory power?

Didn’t Thagard form a computer model of that? Check the Cog Psy / Cog Sci chapter. Think it’s a later module in Brown’s class.

What are the sequence of thoughts, when a mind switches from Naive-Possibilism, to Eternalism + Qualified-Possibilism?

My meta-thinking during discovery-and-decoding, is to help model how a mind transforms.

The master paradigmatic example of “Conceptual Revolutions” is mental model transformation from Possibilism to Eternalism.

Loosecog Science is on more solid ground than other fields.

Loosecog Science is the original, ultimate instance of Scientific Revolution / Paradigm Shift.

The best example of Paradigm Shift is Possibilism to Eternalism in loosecog.

Loosecog Science is better and more relevant than any chapter (field) in Thagard’s book Conceptual Revolutions.

Theorists of Science are looking for the best example of Scientific Discovery.

The best example of Scientific Discovery and Theory Revision is, learning Eternalism, subjecting personal control to the court/judgment/testing, revision, to gain broader explanatory scope and gain explanatory power.

You have to both add Eternalism, and revise the old theory (Possibilism).

Phase 1. Naive Possibilism thinking.

Transformation Process X: [magic happens here, Kuhn’s Chaos, here be dragons/The Shadow] [but Thagard’s Lantern]. Something to do with an angel of God giving you a message by hanging you from a tree above a sword, that’s how the best instance of Scientific Discovery works, and should be the new model for how all fields of science are conducted, even though we don’t fully understand why hanging scientists by their right leg, above a sword, on 3 msh’s, is the most authoritative way to conduct hypothesis formation and testing and peer review in every field of Science.

Phase 2. Eternalism (new) + Revised Possibilism — result can be called “one system” but, systems are separated into modules. You end up w/ one 2-part mental model.

Per Ken Wilber: you end up with two, distinct, major, contradictory, but Possibilism-thinking MUST STILL BE KEPT INTACT & USABLE (else crazy/regression; cannot move to the next level in Wilber’s graduated multi-level system.

“Dis-identify with the old developmental structures” (Wilber’s wording) BUT MUST keep the older structures intact, usable, not dismantled/destroyed.

The mind is designed specifically to enable this loosecog REVISION without simple destruction, of egoic freewill moral-agency thinking.

You end up with 1 mind, containing 2 contradictory models: a brand new model (Eternalism) and a modified/qualified model (Possibilism).

The best example of what Scientific Discovery looks like, that fields of Science must follow, is: pink & red initiates at risk of falling onto sword in Canterbury Psalter.

That’s what the REAL “The Scientific Method” looks like: the red initiate upside-down above the sword, touching the cut branch.

I am glad about that; rewarding. That is good judgment on his part.

The mind is designed to {sacrifice} (repudiate & qualify/transform), as described by Abraham’s sacrifice of child-thinking, which didn’t exactly directly put risk to a child, but, really did put risk for ctrl stability.

I recognize the sword in the Hanging picture — it’s the same blade that Abraham raised over his own child-thinking!

Which chapter in Conceptual Revolutions covers how that blade works, the one they use on piles of rock altars in all mystic religion? It is the same blade that is used in Jesus’ side, the blade of threatening the mind’s, the blade of the mind threatening the mind’s control power, in order to learn and “force” or “drive” or cause, mental model transformation. Teach the mind about it’s vulnerability, the pine cone on the Maenad’s (she is the initiate guy wearing woman’s garment like leader Dionysus) thyrsus “spear”, the thyrsus “spear” pine cone blade penetrates – it demonstrates control vulnerability; that is how Scientific Discovery works, discovering self-control vulnerability to force/drive/cause the creation and adoption of a new mental model of time and control that is not subject to that failure, that’s not completely at sea, that knows how to receive trust in its own hidden source, ever the source, less hidden now that it previously was. But thinking was always profoundly dependent on that source.
