Regarding the history of mushrooms in Greek & Christian history, Wasson has contributed nothing but obstructionism, and has contributed nothing, and less than nothing.

according to my “needs fact-check”, off-the-cuff talking in Egodeath Mystery Show episode 145a ~1:10:00

Wasson in no meaningful, relevant sense is “the father of ethnomycology”.

Bury him in narrowing qualifiers and emphasize his efforts to obstruct and impede the study of mushrooms in Christian history.

Wasson multiple times censored Panofsky’s twice-recommended citation of Brinckmann’s 1906 book Tree Stylizations in Medieval Paintings.

Wasson labored and went out of his way to prevent mycologists from conducting scholarly inquiry into mushroom imagery in Christian art, and worked hard to limit the engagement to insults, name-calling, and argument from authority, to strategically prevent & discourage actual investigation into mushroom imagery in Christian art.

Allegro was pretty wildly far off-track too. He only got one word right, ”mushroom’, and misconceptualized the meaning and role of that, as secret amanita, under the Suppression paradigm/ presupposition matrix.

I summed the contributions to the topic of psilocybin* in Christianity from Wasson, Allegro, and Hatsis, and it came out to 0.
