Motivation for Creating this Page

Need to keep the article’s page clean and modular. But need to supplement the page with detailed composition dates and errata and linking to the supplemental branching-message mushroom trees article that completes the main article.

I’m repeating the same successful pattern as used in Nov. 2020 for Great Canterbury Psalter image f134 article.

2023 Supplement: Branching-Message Mushroom Trees

Branching-Message Mushroom Trees: Psychedelic Eternalism Depicted in Medieval Art as Branching Mushrooms, Handedness, and Stability
https://egodeaththeory.wordpress.com/2023/02/16/branching-message-mushroom-trees-psychedelic-eternalism-depicted-in-medieval-art-as-branching-mushrooms-handedness-and-non-branching/

The present, 2007 article is incomplete; it has a gap: it’s missing {non/branching} and {branching-message mushroom trees}, {handedness}, and {non-branching} motifs.

Those decodings were developed in:

  • The Nov. 2011/ Nov. 2012/ Nov. 2013 breakthrough.
  • Christmas 2015 (hypothesis that Dancing Man Salamander standing on right leg = relying on eternalism-thinking.
  • Nov. 2020: decoded image f134, Great Canterbury Psalter (confirming the 2015 hypothesis).
  • March-May 2022 figured out {branching-message mushroom trees}, {handedness}, and {non-branching} motifs.
  • February 16-April 9+, 2023: branching-message mushroom trees article for the Journal of Psychedelic Studies.

Notes and Corrections

I added the below sections in 2020 & 2023.

The main article copy at Egodeath.com doesn’t have these notes.

Body Published October 2, 2006 — But, the Intro (Essential) Was Added on June 15, 2007, and Broke Up Sentences Sep. 12, 2007

[3:42 p.m. Feb. 3, 2023:]

oh, this is big: I just determined that June 15, 2007, I added the summary at top of main article, I think of such summary as essential. THIS is why I said “2006-2007”:
https://egodeathyahoogroup.wordpress.com/2021/01/09/egodeath-yahoo-group-digest-91/#message4607

The intro is key and essential to the design of this article.

From the POV of 2007-2023, every time I picture this article, I always think, above all, of the all-important intro.

July 10, 2007 I fixed a Bubble biblio entry, added “Austin”.
https://egodeathyahoogroup.wordpress.com/2021/01/09/egodeath-yahoo-group-digest-93/#message4713
Several earlier posts in that thread (digest 91 & 92) talk about breaking up the too-long sentences in mobile version, but fails to state that I did same in main article – but I apparently attached the main article drafts as zip. So, mid-2007 I was tweaking the article, driven by voice recording speech and by Mobile streamlining.

Found it! Very late date, I applied a large set of changes from Mobile version to main version, and, the Egodeath community (Kanbrunebran) translated the article into Dutch. Very late!

url Sep. 12, 2007:

And it’s coming back to me — what an awesome property of the great Egodeath Yahoo Group archives from Max Freakout, their ability to bring back all the details from 17 years ago.

[1:50 p.m. February 3, 2023 notes:]

For several months, the final draft was October 2, 2006.

Then in 2007 [todo: date] while recording reading-aloud the article, I broke up a few sentences, but made no content changes.

The article should not say “Copyright 2006-2007”; it should say “Copyright 2006”, even though I added a couple sentence breaks in 2007.

I finally took 2 minutes to look up the exact date in 2006 that I announced the final draft other than an early 2007 tweak to make this article readable aloud.

My memory/guess in 2023 of the month in 2006 was correct! October 2006.

I found the thread in the Egodeath Yahoo Group archive provided by Max Freakout:
Subject: Re: Article: The Entheogen Theory of Religion and Ego Death
https://egodeathyahoogroup.wordpress.com/2021/01/09/egodeath-yahoo-group-digest-90/#message4527

Search for that thread for history of drafts, which might even mention who in the Egodeath community provided art for the article:

Slight Sentence Restructuring in 2007

[1:50 p.m. February 3, 2023 revised notes:]

September 2006, the article had final content except the whole Intro section was only in the home page of the Egodeath.com site. June 2007 incorp’d that intro section into the article.

Sep. 12, 2007 broke up long sentences like done in the Mobile version of the article, to enable reading-aloud; like: short words + short sentences + short paragraphs.

These dates are findable in the Max Freakout archives of the Egodeath Yahoo Group in the 2006-2007 thread that’s dedicated to the article, but Find “September 12, 2007” at present site, where I’ve written up the date findings.

A bad writing habit that I just (2023-02-03) had to fix in the above sentence, too, is inserting a “clarifying” sentence within an already over-complicated sentence, to “add clarity”. 😵

[1:50 p.m. February 3, 2023 notes:]

To determine what tweaks I made in 2007 to make the article readable aloud, load into Word and use Compare Documents :

Bibliography Lacks First Names

I dislike the lack of first names; I regret that I copied this senseless academic convention.

Lacks {handedness} and {non-branching} art motifs

[1:50 p.m. February 3, 2023 notes:]

I failed during 2006-Feb. 2022 to intelligently “read” the first image in the article, which is an incredibly awesome image diagramming the {handedness} and {non-branching} art motifs.

I haven’t searched this site to establish and memorize official dates, but around March 6 – April 13, 2022, I finally recognized and decoded the {handedness} and {non-branching} art motifs in the Eustace window image and in the final image in the 2006 article.

Log of Discoveries & Achievements

In the last image, Dionysus’ victory procession, Ariadne is holding a branching branch in left hand, vs. Dionysus’ non-branching spear held in his right hand.

Correction: Moses’ Brass Serpent on a Pole

The “time-pole” explanation is the worst shortcoming, off-base, of mytheme-decoding in the article, as I knew when I published this in 2006-2007.

To solve the mytheme {healing brass snake on a pole to look at to heal from fatal snake-bite} (that is, to identify how that mytheme is analogous to specific “things that are observed and experienced in the altered state”) required a huge successful build-out of deciphering/translating/ decoding the entire language of mythemes.

I had a huge math-like discovery Thanksgiving week climaxing on November 29, 2013, that was required to solve that Nehushtan snake-on-pole:

{tree vs. snake} = Possibilism vs. Eternalism.

{Moses’ serpent on a pole for the Israelites to heal rebellious Israelites from fatal snake-bite}, not solved in this Main Article of 2006, is an example of “an unsolved problem within the New Theory”. Solved Nov 2011 & esp. Nov 2013/Dec 2013, as posted at Egodeath Yahoo Group in major announcements in Dec 2013.

This picture doesn’t show debranched tree, or Y at top: hard to decode from this; I had to do a web image search in Dec 2013 to corroborate that some artists show the pole as a debranched tree.

Eustace Crossing River

Hey, dumb past-me of 2006:

  • Where is branching in this image?
  • Where is handedeness in this image?
Eustace crossing river, decoded by Cybermonk in March/April 2022:
left = branching = possibilism-thinking
right = non-branching = eternalism-thinking

Published at top of 2006 main article, decoded in March or April 2022.

2022 03
-2006 10

2021 15
-2006 10
= 15-1/2 years to decode — or, to think of making the effort to decode.

That’s how long it took me to engage my brain and look and think – from the morphology motifs point of view.

Instead of like Thomas Hatsis, wrongly assuming that the image is driven by the narrative backstory.

This type of image is firstly to communicate morphology motifs.

Dionysus Triumph – 6 Mushrooms

On November 14, 2020, and then further on December 14, 2020 when I found and uploaded my photograph, I proved that the leopard is drinking from an Amanita in Holy Grail format, partly by my own specimen observations and photograph.

Branching and Handedness in Dionysus’ Chariot

[2:40 p.m. February 3, 2023 notes:]

omg the above section’s notes from 2020 don’t note my March 2022 breakthrough about Ariadne holding {branch} in {left hand}.

Ariadne is holding a branching branch in left hand, vs. Dionysus’ non-branching spear held in his right hand.

In 2020 here I merely noted the updated mushroom count of 6.

Engaging my brain finally in March 2022 to actually think about “why holding branch” instead of my decades of just throwing up my arms, “I can’t understand, I lack the special backstory.”

I felt super idiotic March-April 2022 when I finally stopped acting mentally helpless and actually engaged my critical analytical faculty – for me, the main feeling of record-breaking intellectual achievement is feeling dumb for not having realized the obvious, decades ago.
