Why did anyone ever see any good in Wasson’s Amanita theory or in Allegro’s Amanita theory? Why did Ruck lap that sh*t up? Why does John Rush push Amanita mania? “The mushroom” (eye roll)
Why does Irvin’s Allegro’s SMC book sell like hotcakes even though Irvin somehow flipped away from that confusion into his new confusion? He converted from like:
Eucharist = Amanita (2008 book The Holy Mushroom)
to:
Eucharist = not Psilocybin (2022 book God’s Flesh)

This post by Cyberdisciple, Against the Assumption of Suppression of Psychedelics in Pre-modernity, is extremely effective theorizing, fully broad, and covers all the variant scenarios by using the umbrella, flexible key words ‘mainstream’ and ‘counterculture’.
I have recently concluded and analyzed that if you as a theorist affirm the idea of “counterculture” associated with full exclusive ownership of psychedelics, then you inherently, automatically are going to the Supreme Court & Church, and commanding them:
You *must* prohibit psychedelics, and furthermore, from a Jewish or Christian theology basis, from a literalist and ordinary-state and eagerly committed, exoteric-based misreading, you (mainstream religion and culture) are theologically commanded by God, according to me (typical “entheogen [Prohibition] scholar”) that God *requires* and *commands* that you prohibit psychedelics and declare them to be heretical.
We see this with Carl Amanita Promoter Ruck and Gonzalez declaring and asserting that the mainstream religion inherently and perpetually (per Bad Anthropology, and Bad Sociology, and Bad Theology, and Bad Drug Policy Strategy) *must* declare psychedelic users to belong to a “sect”, and that that is a “heretical sect”.
Carl Ruck _pretends_ that he is not proclaiming dogmatic decrees from his papal chair, by hiding behind the words “so-called” — but the only person that I hear “calling” psychedelics usage to be “heretical”, is Carl Ruck himself!
Carl Ruck’s dogmatic restrictionism paradigm here is called out by Jan Irvin, p. 104 in the book The Holy Mushroom.
Irvin’s book The Holy Mushroom is an Amanita Madness-propelled book that only values psilocybin as a lowly, disrespected stage crew to be used to prop up the Fly Agaric star.
Carl Ruck is making a theology (& Anthropology and Sociology) decree, while pretending not to, by adding the words “so-called heretical” & “sects” — but *he* is the one calling them “sects”, and *he* is the one calling them “heretical”.
Enforcing the Prohibition of psychedelics is inherent in bad entheogen scholarship that pushes the idea of exclusively counterculture ownership of psychedelics.
You literally could not form a more prohibition-friendly, prohibition-supporting, prohibition-compliant, prohibition-amenable, prohibition-cooperating, prohibition-collaborationist, prohibition-enabling, prohibition-complicit, thoroughly prohibition-saturated form of entheogen scholarship, than the Amanita Suppression theory of entheogen scholarship.
This is a form of entheogen scholarship that’s specifically designed to make the prohibitionists applaud and cheer; this is music to their ears.
This “inherently prohibitionist mainstream” view is thoroughly baked into the very DNA of Entheogen Prohibition-Driven Scholarship.
This is “entheogen scholarship” as presented to you, as brought to you by Prohibition.
This is literally entheogen scholarship which is a product shaped by Prohibition and brought to you through Prohibition.
The Theory of Psychedelic Eternalism is the counter-theory; the Psilocybin Mainstream/ Eucharist theory, which has thoroughly entirely discredited and replaced the bad old version 1, entirely toxic and deathly poisonous, prohibition-driven theory, the Amanita counterculture/ suppression theory.
Note Nov. 29, 2024: Avoid the problematic word ‘mainstream’, which indirectly reifies the concept of ‘counterculture’.
That pair of words (“mainstream vs. counterculture”) is used by Ruck for the purpose of actively constructing a Prohibition barrier boundary wall that imagines and constructs those fairytale narrative categories.
The word ‘mainstream’ seems ok, except that it inadvertently still implies & reifies the concept of ‘counterculture’, given that “counterculture” is entirely entrenched in the thinking in this field.
We must do away with the entire barrier construction, “mainstream vs. counterculture”.
There is no mainstream. There is no counterculture. There is only the whole set of all self-identified Christians, regardless of affiliation with some closed, bounded, controlled-access group.
Other labels:
- the Explicit Cubensis paradigm
- Cubensis-driven entheogen scholarship
Avoid doing History (= defeatist, crybaby, Prohibition-reifying fairytale construction/ telling). Just study evidence and interpret it.
/Note Nov. 29, 2024
The Amanita Prohibition theory of entheogen scholarship/ psychedelics history.
Prohibitionist Entheogen Scholarship; entheogen Prohibition scholarship.
The exoteric reading of Genesis 2 & 3 makes God a liar when saying to Adam “When you eat the fruit, you will certainly die on that day”, which proves this reading to be incorrect and unbiblical, and proves that we must use an esoteric altered state reading instead. Nov 29 2024 note: check Ruck p 15 of “Conj Eden”, or probably p 57 of “Daturas Virgin”, about “clues” for the “initiated”.
The Genesis text presents us with the question that what God said must be true: that Adam in fact did die on that day, because God said so.
So then our work as interpreters is to explain, in what sense was God correct, in what sense did Adam die on that day?
This is the only possible coherent, successful reading.
Also we must factor in Revelation 22 at the end of the Bible, which is called “Eden Restored”.
Revelation 22 says that those on the outside are prohibited from psychedelics, but those who are on the inside are granted access to psychedelics.
Note Nov 29 2024: {those outside the gates of the City of God} = control instability in peak loosecog state. Rev 20-21. {lake of fire, purgatory, flames, blades} = corrective control angst that drives mental model transformation from possibilism- to eternalism-thinking.

Cyberdisciple and Brown are naïve and Pollyanna and living in an unreal “reasonable, fair, rational, neutral, level playing field” world that doesn’t exist, when you think that you can employ the word ‘mushrooms’ without specifying *psilocybin*, because like it or not, yes you are free to use the word ‘mushrooms’, but like it or not, the fact is, people like Thomas Hatsis have confirmed to me personally, that they consider the word ‘mushrooms’ in this context to be an exact synonym exclusively for the word ‘Amanita’.
So whether you are aware of it or not, when you use the word ‘mushrooms’, you are in practice, effectively you are writing the word ‘Amanita’.
You might as well be so naïve in writing the word ‘mushrooms’, you might as well just go ahead and write the word “the holy mushroom” or write the word “the mushroom”, because either way, the stupid audience is going to read you as specifically asserting “Amanita” when you write the word ‘mushrooms’.
So if you want to guarantee miscommunication and you want to guarantee that people will definitely misread your words, go ahead and employ the word ‘mushrooms’ without qualification (saying *psilocybin* mushrooms).
You have no idea how thoroughly hypnotized with full-on Amanita Madness to the nth degree this field of Entheogen Prohibition Scholarship is.
Amanita “primacy” fallacy is a huge understatement; this is full-on *exclusive* reign of the false tyrant exclusively occupying the throne with no legitimacy at all.
Amanita = Prohibition-supporting.
Amanita Theory is the official house brand of entheogen scholarship that’s fully approved by the prohibitionists and is a product of prohibition to support Prohibition of Psilocybin in perpetuity.
To disavow and repudiate and distance oneself from Amanita theory is to disavow and repudiate and distance oneself from Prohibition of Psilocybin.
The only possible way to write the word ‘mushrooms’ in the way that you mean it and prevent it from being misread as the word ‘Amanita’ is that you absolutely must specify “psilocybin mushrooms” and possibly also specify amanita.

Thanks for confirming via your recollection. Not sure how clearly I realized in 2002 that:
Moderate entheogen theory = Amanita.
Maximal entheogen theory = Psilocybin.
The Amanita Primacy paradigm does two bad things that must be stopped one way or another:
Suppresses & eliminates Psilocybin mushrooms, and reduces them into a mere minor supporting role for False King Amanita.
Condones and perpetuates Prohibition of Psilocybin.
I put Amanita in a mere supporting role toward glorification of True King Psilocybin.
During this corrective phase, a vigorous and effective Red-to-Blue shift is needed, to counter and dislodge the entrenched Blue-to-Red shift, to eventually produce a Blue/Red balance, which is to say a BLUE/red or blue<–red balance, where the deliriant Amanita is read per the commonly understood headshop art language as a symbol of Cubensis.
Amanita is acknowledged by Bible authors in Eze 2 & Rev 10: per Dale Pendell, Amanita is a suitable symbol for use in myth and wonderland fairytales, the lower level of esotericism; exoteric esotericism.
Eating the little scroll promises in Rev 22:2 (“Eden Restored”) no fewer than thirteen entheogens; we can start with Cubensis, which Eadwine indicates as special and ideal via its YI form in “Creation of Plants”, whereas Amanita is glorified in merely IY form, the reverse of the standard “good” or “ideal” form.

Thanks for confirming that I specified Psilocybin against Amanita when I rejected the Moderate and defined the Maximal entheogen theory of religion.
I haven’t researched the archives to confirm this, but:
By the time I had a mental idea of the field of entheogen scholarship around 2000, Psilocybin was established as my point of reference, with Amanita a newcomer that didn’t produce mythic experiencing, even though Amanita imagery is vivid in myth and fairytales.
Per Pendell, Amanita is the supreme symbol for entheogens such as Psilocybin, as is the language symbolic in headshop culture: everyone simply just knows that {spotted mushroom} means Cubensis (or blotter); no one thinks for a moment that Amanita imagery in headshop art means ingesting Amanita, which is a deliriant, not a psychedelic, “sour in stomach” (Eze 2 /Rev 10).
I need to double-check that in the Max Freakout Archive of the Egodeath Yahoo Group:
When I started entheogen scholarship in 1999, I already held Psilocybin as the model and main plant to look for, as physical form & effects.
Given Cyberdisciple’s summary & recollection, and given my exasperation against the totally biased mid-1990s question “Can Psilocybin simulate the real, authoritative thing, non-drug meditation?”:
I entered the field of entheogen scholarship already holding – like John Lash – a strong preference for Psilocybin over Amanita.
Secret Amanita entheogen scholars subsume Psilocybin so as to serve the needs of King Amanita.
Since 1999 when I first heard of Amanita, via Heinrich’s book Strange Fruit, I only integrated Amanita so as to serve the glory of King Psilocybin.
A recent question is, in 2002/2003 when I defined the maximal entheogen theory of religion:
Did I recognize the correlation between Secret Amanita & the Moderate (aka Minimal) entheogen theory of religion?
Did I recognize the correlation between Explicit Psilocybin & the maximal entheogen theory of religion?
Did I realize that (Secret) Amanita vs. (Explicit) Psilocybin is practically definitive of the Moderate (aka Minimal) vs. Maximal entheogen theory of religion?
What I mean by “from the start”, around 2002:
My autobiography of reading at that time:
1986: “What blotter-like scroll is Rev 10?” I didn’t know Ezekiel has the same scroll-eating.
In mid-1990s, I despised the brain-dead presupposition-drenched wording of meditation debate per Tricycle magazine special issue & its offshoot Zig Zag Zen book, “can Psilocybin imitate Meditation (which is authoritative)?” Same with the _Gnosis_ special issue on Psychedelics. As I recall, I was not aware of Amanita mushrooms; I only knew Psilocybin mushrooms.
1997 – Posted outline of my core theory (psychedelic eternalism with dependent control).
1998: Tried to use Bible, Mr. Jesus, and Mr. Paul to confirm my core theory.
1999: Completed my collection of Gnosis journal issues (the journal ran 1985-1999).
Heinrich: Strange Fruit – 1995, read ~1999.
The Jesus Mysteries – Freke & Gandy – read, & met w/ authors ~1999. The Genre-question paradigm shift; religious founder figures are ahistorical. So, a change of strategy: Corroborate my Core theory by showing that religious myth describes the same mental model transformation as my Core theory.
My reason, objective, & motivation for dropping into the field of entheogen scholarship: Show that myth is successfully interpreted & recognized as analogies describing psychedelic eternalism with dependent control. See Psilocybin everywhere.
Contrast Ruck’s reason for driving the field of entheogen scholarship: comply with Prohibition, identify with suppressed heretics, fairytale ritual retelling: See restricted Secret Amanita hidden so that almost no one knew about it:
“The Big Bad Church Triumphant is eternally Prohibitionist, but we heretical alien sects/ cults/ groups/ communities/ secret societies infiltrated even the very heart of Christianity, an alien infiltration, brazenly displaying our Secret Amanita in our places of worship, repeatedly reintroducing The Sacred Mushroom [picture kiddie Amanita].” – Carl Ruck, “Conjuring Eden”, Entheos 1, 2001, p. 14; “Daturas for the Virgin”, Entheos 2, 2001, p. 56.
James Arthur – Mushrooms and Mankind – 2000. Read & conversed with author.
Around 1999, I first heard of Allegro, eg Heinrich in _Strange Fruit_ wrongly says Allegro says that Jesus led a mushroom cult.
Entheos issue 1 w/ Conjuring Eden – Ruck/Staples & Heinrich – 2001.
Entheos issue 2 w/ “Daturas for the Virgin” – Ruck/Staples & __ & Heinrich – 2001.
Apples of Apollo book: Ruck/ Staples/ Heinrich/ Hoffman 2001.
Entheos issue 3 w/ reversed & Blue-to-Red shifted tauroctony, no mention of the psilocybin mushroom in leg/hem – 2002.
In Ruck’s Sacred Mushrooms of the Goddess: Secrets of Eleusis book, 2006, I’m quoted as writing that ‘wine’ in antiquity means an infusion of “visionary dissociative psychoactive plants”.
I misremembered the pull quote, which doesn’t quote me writing that “mushroom” wine = mixed wine, as if I meant Psilocybin mushrooms but Ruck misread that as Amanita.
I did not ambiguously and problematically write that ‘wine’ means, vaguely, “mushrooms”.
Ruck would have read that as Amanita, but I would have meant that as Psilocybin mushrooms.
Ruck’s pull quote of what I wrote is broader than ‘mushroom’. On p.93 I’m quoted as writing “visionary dissociative psychoactive plants”:
“It is hard to grasp the immensity of the ramifications of considering ‘wine‘ in antiquity as an ‘infusion of visionary dissociative psychoactive plants,’ the wholesale changes required to the conventional scholarly view of the nature of Hellenistic-Roman religion and culture. Even the best books, especially the “best”, most authoritative books, serve to spread and deepen the misreading of Hellenistic-Roman religion and culture as ‘lacking mystic religious experiencing.” – Michael Hoffman, p. 93
Amanita imagery is ok, but two things are unacceptable and must end:
Unacceptable thing 1: The Amanita Primacy paradigm suppresses & eliminates Psilocybin mushrooms and reduces them into a mere minor supporting role for False King Amanita.
Unacceptable thing 2: The Amanita Primacy paradigm condones and perpetuates Prohibition of Psilocybin.
At best, Amanita entheogen scholarship does nothing to work toward Repeal of Prohibition.
At worst, Amanita collaborates with Prohibition; reifies and excuses permanent Prohibition; and eternally separates Psilocybin from everyone by laboring to construct and bolster a fake barrier boundary wall, “mainstream vs. counterculture”.
Psilocybin mushrooms were neither “mainstream” nor “counterculture”.
Some Christians used Psilocybin mushrooms, and the best artists depicted peak transformative religious experiencing via the ingenious development of {mushrooms}, {branching}, {handedness}, and {stability} motifs.
I am firmly against any project of fairtale scenario construction, trying to explain where there’s a barrier boundary wall within Christianity separating it into Mainstream (= anti psychedelics) vs. Counterculture (= pro psychedelics).
Do not do that project. We DO NOT need a conjectured scenario to try to explain how presence of mushrooms = absence of mushrooms.
Stop doing that project, as if that labor produces a required explanatory helpful hypothesis – it just confuses the scholar, the reader, and the Courts.
“Mainstream/traditional” and “Counterculture/heretical” Christianity don’t exist – these are just loaded, value-laden, rhetoric storytelling words, as critically discussed in McCarthy & Priest’s “Reply to Replies”, Sep. 2024, Journal of Psychedelic Studies.
Christianity has no “mainstream” or “counterculture” Psilocybin tradition.
Such “mainstream vs. counterculture” spin is ritual fake fairytale storytelling, nothing but a scholars’ fabricated narrative to define the scholar’s own self-identity, per Hanegraaff’s book _Esotericism and the Academy_.
Does mainstream Christianity have a Psilocybin tradition?
Christianity has a Psilocybin tradition.
I reject the Allegro/ Ruck Secret Amanita premise that Christianity is divided into “mainstream Christianity” vs. “counterculture Christianity” or “heretical Christianity”.
I reject the construct “mainstream Christianity”: it raises more questions than it presumably solves. Introducing that confusion into entheogen scholarship only hinders entheogen scholarship.

Comment 2: Never Trust an “Entheogen” Scholar
Never Trust an “Entheogen” Scholar
Editor for the Ruck committee and secret contributor to Apples of Apollo, Evil M. Hoffman, incorrectly writes “1976” for the year Wasson & Ruck coined ‘entheogen’, 1979.
Entheogens (Psychedelic Drugs) and the Ancient Mystery Religions
For a laugh, compare the length of the opening, grand Amanita section 📚 vs. the closing “Psilocybin and this ‘n that” section 🔬🔍🧐 that suggests someone oughta think of looking into Psilocybin ‘n stuff in mystery religions (like maybe some “entheogen” scholarship editor).
Oddly, proving that garbled thinking and conflation is caused by ‘mushrooms’, note that M. Hoffman uses the term “psychoactive mushrooms” in that diminutive passage, even though he has an entire gigantic section opening the article, about Amanita:
25.4.3 Psilocybin and Psilocin (Mushrooms) and DMT, 5Meo DMT: Spirit Molecules —
“These closely related entheogenic compounds should be mentioned in a discussion of the Mystery Religions.
“While evidence for their use in this context has not been fully**[pffft!] explored, it is extremely unlikely that the chemical properties of psychoactive mushrooms* and the natural sources of DMT would have been overlooked by ancient herbalists and alchemists.”
*uh yeah Hoffman, eg see your giant Amanita section 5 pages above, explaining that the holy mushroom, the Fly-Agaric, is the sacred-meal engine of mystery religions.
I consulted an Americas field researcher specialist PhD candidate the other day and told her of the situation in this field of failure.
I told her that the reigning theory is that Amanita was used for routine mass-scale initiations, and she couldn’t believe that’s the theory; she said that would be a terrible choice, and wouldn’t work, because of logistics; an incomparably superior choice would be psilocybin.
Eadwine’s Great Canterbury Psalter images f134 & f145 show gathering, securely storing, training for, and distributing specifically cubensis – with only ~3 out of the psalter’s 75 mushroom trees using Amanita imagery.
Eadwine demonstrates awareness of Amanita, in God Creates Plants (image f11 row 1 right),
https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10551125c/f11.item.zoom
and then proceeds to demonstrate total lack of interest in Amanita, showcasing cubensis instead, and showing liberty-cap caps and sages sitting up alert on couches as if wood lovers’ paralysis (image f32):
https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10551125c/f32.item.zoom
Eadwine is instructing kings, and he is not going to give kings the Carl Ruck committee’s terrible, awful advice, recommending Amanita, when cubensis is incomparably more desirable, relevant, efficacious, producing the targeted effect, and available than the fools’ mushroom, Amanita muscaria.
The one and only thing that researchers know about Amanita’s effects is that Amanita is NOT a classic psychedelic — so why are we paying 🍄 ANY attention to Amanita, other than inverting the entheogen scholars’ respect/disrespect relation and turning the tables and instead making Amanita subservient to psilocybin, as a mere symbol for psilocybin, per Dale Pendell in Pharmacognosis:
“Amanita muscaria is the most famous entheogen in the world that nobody uses.
“It is the supreme symbol of all entheogenic religion: of secret cults and societies of initiates and whispered lost knowledge.”
This is the proxy effect: no one has any interest in Amanita as chemical or altered-state experience, but everyone has Amanita Madness frenzy treating Amanita as a proxy paradigm worldview raft of desire and confused projection.
You analyzed this.
Letcher Hatsis the psychedelic historian correctly noticed this malformation of the field of “entheogen scholarship”.
Dale Pendell opens his Amanita section pointing out that Amanita the myth and proxy is all-dominant, with zero involvement of Amanita the chemical effect.
M. Hoffman manages to contradict himself in his usage of the term ‘mushrooms’ within his own article.
**Using ‘mushrooms’ causes garbled writing: “Not been fully explored”: ie, my Ruck committee has totally failed to give the topic *any* attention at all, in our obsessed, singleminded zeal chasing after the colors red and white, while, blinded by the false, dead-end light of “the holy mushroom, Amanita muscaria”, failing to see or mention the psilocybin mushroom in Mithras’ leg in the (reversed) tauroctony on the cover of Entheos journal.

Wasson, Ruck, Ott, Bigwood, Staples, 1979, J. of Psychedelic Drugs:
“The word ‘psychedelics’ has too much baggage.
So we are providing a new word, ‘entheogens’, which has no baggage attached.”
___
Thanks, I scrubbed ‘entheogens’ , a known-harmful, alien, counter-theory, trojan-horse lexicon term participating in and carrying-in a thoroughly bad assumption-network, from my article
Branching-Message Mushroom Trees: Psychedelic Eternalism Depicted in Medieval Art as Branching, Mushrooms, Handedness, and Stability.
In medieval art, the {branching} motif is definitely distinct from the {mushroom} motif, and is often employed without mushroom cap imagery.
I do not use an approach of neuroscience, history, anthropology, sociology, physicalism, mysticism, or cultural theory; my approach is:
Core theory:
1)experiential cognitive phenomenology, mental model transformation about control-in-world, mental construct processing; loose cognitive association binding; mental model transformation, driven by control instability and re-stabilization;
and
Mytheme theory: (I sometimes previously used the descriptors “entheogens” & “history”, but decoding/ mapping mythemes is really my mode of theorizing here) —
2) interpreting high rock lyrics (1991), and then religious mythology (2002), and then medieval art motifs (2020), as depiction (through analogy) of mental model transformation, driven by control instability and re-stabilization, indicated by {flames}, {scale balance}, {stable column base}, {stable, balanced tower}, {arches}, and {doorways of buildings} (which include the {gate-passage} theme).
Some {building doorways} have an {open scroll} reaching up to the top border.
Golden Psalter wonderfully wrecks the construct of “mushroom” trees, by mixing mushroom caps and leaf-crowns in each tree/plant.
Eadwine accomplishes the same differentiation of the {branching} and {mushroom} motifs by pairing mushroom trees with leaf-crown trees.
Break the theorists’ addiction to ‘entheogens’ — _as if_ the Theory of Psychedelic Eternalism & branching-message mushroom trees is *inexpressible* prior to 1979.
Arguably, the word ‘psychedelics’ actually has _less_ baggage than the word ‘entheogens’.
I need to review Christopher Partridge’s critique of the word ‘entheogens’.
Like Brown, Great Canterbury Psalter has general “mushroom imagery”, not only mushroom trees.
Unfortunately “the” mushroom tree ultimate paradigm master instance, all-sufficient & all-purpose, is the Fly-Agaric fresco.
The Fly-Agaric fresco is the God of all mushroom trees, used by Samorini 1998 to build out an entire (Figure 20) classification scheme that’s able to handle an entire 4-1/2 instances — _if_ you, like Irvin & Ruck, *repaint* the blue cap red of Bodleian’s Salamander image to *force* it to look like the master reference paradigmatic instance, our Fly-Agaric fresco ❤️🍄🌳😍
How is a theorist, scholar, or historian supposed to shake off this much badness, that’s woven all throughout the terminology that we rely on?
The shared meaning-network is all corrupted.
Eadwine’s Great Canterbury Psalter images, eg f134, f145, & f177, have mushroom imagery that’s not trees.
f134: mushroom dispensary display case, bucket pouring golden teacher.
f145: plate of blue circles, pouring blue (or f177: brown) circles into lockboxes.

Argument against both words:
Entheogens: What’s in a Name? The Untold History of Psychedelic Spirituality and Social Control
Irvin conflates social misuse of a chemical with the inherent cognitive action of the chemical (“suggestogens”).
___
Christopher Partridge coined ‘occulture’, and is the editor of the book Contemporary Esotericism, including Hanegraaff’s 2012 “Entheogenic Esotericism” keynote essay 8 years after my 2004 posting against him, titled that.
Partridge argues against the word ‘entheogens’ and uses the word ‘psychedelics’.
He conflates esotericism with counterculture, and reduces esotericism to the merely countercultural: “What makes something esotericism is that it’s countercultural.
What makes psychedelics esotericism is that they are countercultural.”
Partridge says that what makes something esoteric is the fact that it is counterculture.
So be on your guard and defense up: watch out for Partridge’s use of the word ‘counterculture’; there’s an entire paradigm attached to his use of that word, an arbitrary, reductionistic agenda/ raft of embedded views; a “counterculture” presupposition matrix.

omg and I write “the Panofsky letter”! — I hadn’t read Brown 2019 well enough yet Dec. 20, 2020.
It’s two letters, if not more, against Wasson’s psychopathic-level scholarly obstructionism, lying to our faces repeatedly for decades and withholding Panofsky’s two attached mushroom tree art works and Panofsky’s twice, strong recommendation of Brinckmann’s book – a truly HUGE academic violation, drastically discrediting Wasson.
I’m not surprised though, because I quickly gleaned in 2006 when writing the Plaincourault article:
- My 2006 accusation part 1: No way does Panofsky have citations that amount to anything. There’s no way in hell the art historians wrote articles and books focusing on mushroom trees.
- My 2006 accusation part 2: Wasson is withholding the embarrassingly thin, near-nonexistent citations that Panofsky certainly must have provided to back up his very strong claim of being thoroughly familiar with [having to explain-away] mushroom trees.
- Brown 2019 proved my pair of 2006 accusations correct.

Samorini does a copy/paste of the Amanita paradigm in all its raging badness, and multiplies it to incorporate Psilocybin, shaped in exactly the same error-based mis-paradigm.
Psilocybin as mis-seen through the all-distorting & reductionistic lens of Amanita Madness.
Definition of the Amanita Paradigm

Discussed in Egodeath Mystery Show Ep246b near 25:00 (the entire Ep246 pretty much focuses around this):
The Amanita paradigm =
- perpetual prohibition.
- primitivism that’s artificially constructed by academic fabricators of history.
- a physicalist-limited theorizing (shape of Amanita).
- ambiguous, obfuscating language (“the mushroom”, “mushrooms”, “the holy mushroom”).
- unstated argumentation.
- poor theorizing.
- a gallery of fallacious argumentation, this taboo field is kept in status quo generating new novel fallacious arguments made up on-the-spot in droves.
- I was impressed by the celerity with which Hatsis easily explained away each new piece of evidence, an endless supply of Parasol of Victory fabrications, b/c he’s a wannabe Pro Historian, and that’s their job of Pro Historians: to professionally manufacture history, confabulations. Hatsis counters the Wasson/ Allegro/ Ruck confabulation of fake Amanita-based history, by confabulating fallacious and not-even-specious arguments against each piece of mushroom art evidence.
- proxy associations and narratives;
- lowering consciousness,
- immature childish exoteric misreading of religious myth and art motifs.
- Hero-worship driven:
- John Lash falsely attributes enlightened views to Gordon Wasson that Wasson didn’t assert.
- Jan Irvin falsely tries to credit John Allegro with giving a sh*t about the hundreds of mushroom trees. Allegro only cared about our magic fetish talisman, THE mushroom tree; the Fly-Agaric fresco, our foundation of idol theory paradigm religion cultic worldview of us Amanita theorists. “I only have eyes for you, fresco. 🖼🍄❤️”
The Amanita paradigm is the epitome of bad theorizing.

The Amanita paradigm is the epitome of bad theorizing.

The Psilocybin paradigm =
- Explains the changing mental model of control-in-world caused by loosecog from Psilocybin (not merely the changing physical mushroom (🍄) shape)
- Driven by Strategy to accomplish Full repeal of Psilocybin Prohibition (burn the damned fraud-driven “schedules” with fire), and beyond to fully mainstreaming psychedelics.
- advanced comprehension of history; eg tracing early antiquity’s Psilocybin Eternalism, so strongly as to cause an anti-heimarmene reaction in Late Antiquity, inventing freewill and largely losing adult enlightenment (and corrupting the catalog/base of religious myth, filling it with inversion and confusion, to force a backwards narrative of “mental model transformation from eternalism to possibilism”) – Hanegraaff had to delete all the stars from the sky to prevent rebirth being into heimarmene/ eternalism.
- Impressive expertise of middle ages artists, not treat our ancestors as raging irrational idiots, as Allegro/ Anthropology does, per Whig History.)
- a cognitive experiencing domain approach;
- controlled conceptual vocabulary unambiguous;
- sound theorizing,
- explicit argumentation,
- direct speech and direct thinking/ argumentation (not proxy),
- elevating consciousness;
- mature adult esoteric coherent reading of religious myth and art motifs.
Announcement: My Oct. 2002/ March 2003 Revolution Announcement Is Officially Fulfilled April 18, 2023:
… as announced in Egodeath Mystery Show Ep246b near ~1:07:00, at [time of day] April 18, 2023. (i mention this milestone there, but didn’t state the time there, must be elsewhere in the episode)
My Egodeath Yahoo Group posting URLs are easy to find from Site Map -> topic of an after-the-fact “announcement” page, one of a set of such pages when I realized I never properly announced each component. found! —
Article title:
Announcement: The Maximal Entheogen Theory of Religion [aka the Psilocybin Mainstream theory]
Section heading:
Postings at EgodeathYahooGroup Site Covering this Entheogen Theory
https://egodeaththeory.wordpress.com/2021/01/08/announcement-the-maximal-entheogen-theory-of-religion/#Postings-at-EgodeathYahooGroup-Site-Covering-this-Entheogen-Theory
“The Maximal Entheogen Theory of Religion” Became “the Psilocybin Mainstream/ Eternalism Theory” and Totally Discredited “the Amanita Counterculture/ Possibilism Paradigm” (“the Moderate Entheogen Theory of Religion”) and Wholly Replaced It
The Amanita paradigm is restrictive (as Irvin 2008 criticizes): always sect, hidden, secret, suppressed, heretical, outsider, counter-culture, alien import into Christianity, fringe, fringe mystics, elite, exotic, foreign. These are the central explanatory constructs (that failed and cannot work).
Insists that Social reality is perpetual opposition: mainstream prohibitionists vs. counterculture entheogens (a fabricated narrative that’s designed to be pleasing to the Prohibitionists).
Identical to its other form: Eleusis, kykeon/ ergot hogging up 100% of spotlight focus in ancient greek study/ fantasy/ narrative, “ultra secret, the penalty of revealing secret is death” Ruck gleefully and excitedly reminds us every 5 pages. “The secret that was revealed in the mysteries is the mushroom [picture kiddie Amanita]”
todo: add to episode notes: Ep246b 1:07:00 turned down compressor
Definition of the Psilocybin Paradigm
Its strategy is driven by #1 objective of full repeal of Psilocybin Prohibition.
Explains the change of mental worldmodel of control-in-world. vs. trying to explain myth as depiction of the changes of physical shape of mushroom.
Fails to be Cognitive-Focused: Change of Shape of Kiddie Mushroom, vs. Change of Mental Models

Asserted Mainstream Must Prohibit Psychedelics
Prohibition-Compliant and Maximally Enabling Prohibition, Music to the Ears of Prohibitionists
No One Cares About Ingesting Amanita, No One Uses It, It’s Irrelevant, 100% Proxy Narrative
I discussed Dale Pendell’s book Pharmacognosis confirming my conclusion that Fly Agaric is nothing more than purely a symbol/ proxy near 8:00 in Egodeath Mystery Show Ep246b (recorded April 18, 2023). Cyberdisciple wrote excellently about “entheogen scholarship” as Covert Anthropology, and about the Storytelling purpose of entheogen scholarship, telling a story of opposition of mainstream suppression of psychedelics against counterculture psychedelics users/”fringe sects”. Irvin wrote insightfully about pushing Primitivism, and rejecting Ruck’s false assertion of “fringe sects” eg Ruck and Gonzalez’ horrible bluff, writing “so-called” to hide the fact that THEY are the ones who are calling Fly Agaric “sects” so that they themselves can deem them as inherently “heretical”.
Which logically amounts to: Ruck-type bad entheogen scholarship insists that the mainstream culture is INHERENTLY ALWAYS REQUIRED TO PROHIBIT entheogens. “Genesis 3 commands Christianity to prohibit psilocybin.” (This crude, infantile, exoteric mis-reading put forth by the Prohibition-cooperating entheogen scholars makes God a liar when saying “you will certainly die that day”, and ignores Revelation 22, which is titled “Eden Restored” in NIV.)

Direct hit! Emphatically vindicated!

In the spirituality shop, I again pick up Dale Pendell’s book – the TOC lists Amanita. My reaction: let’s see if page 1 of the entry mentions that Amanita isn’t used.
I then turn to page 1 of his Amanita chapter: Sentence 1 reads:
Amanita muscaria is the most famous entheogen in the world that nobody uses. It is the supreme symbol of all entheogenic religion: of secret cults and societies of initiates and whispered lost knowledge.”
Dale Pendell
Amanita imagery never means Amanita, but always means Psilocybin.
Overthrow the Amanita Primacy axiom that mis-leads the field of entheogen scholarship, and overthrow the Moderate/Minimal entheogen theory of religion along with it.
Replace that by the Psilocybin Primacy axiom, along with the Radical Maximal entheogen theory of religion.
