When teaching Sunil & N. last Thur May 22, 2025, 2 days ago in a 1-hour meeting, how to read Great Canterbury Psalter & the medieval art genre of {mushroom-trees}, we ended up profitably going over 5 images from Great Canterbury Psalter:

Recently, I have been making progress on f109: learned to read f109 lower left to upper right.

It is RIDICULOUS that Thomas Hatsis says “bestiary, not religious book, SO, DOESN’T COUNT” re: “dancing man” image (Salamander page of a bestiary).

This “bestiary” shows religious imagery w/ same mushroom-tree family of motifs, so it is not valid to dismiss this set of pictures as “not religious art”. This bestiary genre is for religious moral instruction.

This decoding research builds on John Rush’s {hokey pokey} motif coverage.

About Aberdeen Bestiary (1200)

Same era as Great Canterbury Psalter, confirming that the Asp in Aberdeen = the Asp-Dog in Great Canterbury Psalter f109 bottom right.

“Original Website Project: In 1996 Aberdeen University created a website for the manuscript. For this, the book was photographed using slides which were subsequently scanned.

“The text was transcribed and translated, supported by a commentary and introduction.

difficult interpr ossuaries 3:

red, empty, at key tree w/ {cut right branch}. WHY TWO?!

Several spots have 3 figitures: the pointless loiterers; 3 rams; 2 carriers of corpse + corpse.

The two beard sages holding corpse died loss of control cybernetic ego death then left their two ossuaries, are assisting the dead ego death possibilism-thinking dead guy who used / asserted possibilism-thinking (cut left limb/arm & cut-off L foot;

Corpse is the egoic aspect of the guy held up by God on R foot only, who is burned away with rams).

Empty ossuary = {cut right branch} = good
occupied ossuary = {cut left branch} = bad.

In the kneeling motif, sometimes L foot doesn’t touch ground; so 100% of weight on R foot – however, R leg is bent, so, less than 100% weight on R foot.

outer robe = far from inner truth underlying; removeable; = possibilism-thinking.

Inner garment = eternalism-thinking.

hell mouth fire burns away the {outer robe garment} = egoic/ naive possibilism-thinking.

Only relying on R leg = only eternalism-thinking; this is repudiating L foot (possibilism-thinking).

Careful not to hard-demonize ego/ possibilism-thinking. It’s ok to “soft-demonize” egoic thinking; egoic personal control system. We repair sinful thinking; not wholesale, crude “get rid” of it. We only get rid of an ASPECT of egoic thinking.

3:42 pm May 24, 2025: re: identifying/ interp’g boy with halo in city: God’s son; his halo protects you; he is sacrificed (& resurr.) on your behalf to purify and give stable no-harm control on psychedelics.

ie it is Jesus as God’s lightning-rod son sacrificed like Isaac; compare Abraham & Isaac in the sacrifice of Isaac.

3:46 pm May 24, 2025: finally a bit of progress on lower right: L leg at branching arms; R leg foot at non-branching chest.

Right hand of man holds leash chain of animal, controlling the animal who tries to {shield ears} from hearing the shohar horn message that causes loss of control.

That is the answer finally, to the baffling question, “WHY DOES THE MAN HOLD A BRANCH THING?”

Can read hands on horn as:
L = branching fingers.
R = non-branching thumb.
