Seeking the Sacred with Psychoactive Substances: Chemical Paths to Spirituality and to God
J. Harold Ellens, 2014
Seeking the Sacred with Psychoactive Substances [2 volumes]: Chemical Paths to Spirituality and to God (Psychology, Religion, and Spirituality)
“The first of its kind, this intriguing two-volume set objectively reports on and assesses this modern psycho-social movement in world culture: the constructive medical use of entheogens and related mind-altering substances.
“Covering the use of substances such as ayahuasca, cannabis, LSD, peyote, and psilocybin,
the work seeks to illuminate the topic in a scholarly and scientific fashion so as to lift the typical division between:
those who are supporters of research and exploration of entheogens,
and those who are strongly opposed to any such experimentation altogether.
The volumes address the history and use of mind-altering drugs in medical research and religious practice
in the endeavor to expand and heighten spirituality and the sense of the divine,
providing unbiased coverage of the relevant arguments and controversies regarding the subject matter.
Chapters include:
examinations of how psychoactive agents are used to achieve altered states in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism as well as in the rituals of shamanism and other less widely known faiths.
This highly readable work will appeal to everyone from high school students to seasoned professors, in both the secular world and in devoted church groups and religious colleges.”
trying to capture an excessive number of potential discussion points
in the middle ages-
when was peak mushroom?
when was the fall off
when did we forget and why
spoke with an expert who was specifically mad that Christianity had 100% forgotten and he was exclaiming on the totalNess of this forgetting and
we discussed a little bit but not enough whether modernity- or there was a conspiracy so to speak of both religion and modernity , they both suppressed mushrooms [psilocybin] for their own different reasons
both parties allied
religion allied with early modern science around 1700 to kill off mushrooms [psilocybin]
how did this work
do we put all blame on the church in the middle ages of 1200 ,or do we put all blame on nascent maternity maternity Modern stupid voice transcription MODERNITY robbed us of msh Hanegraaff re throwing esotericism in trashcan
Thomas Roberts counsel for spiritual practices Article at Academia.edu mentions Ken Wilber at the bottom seems to be from around 2011 course guidelines syllabus program and
I don’t like roberts’ typical framing of the question “are visionary plants an authentic fake simulation of the authentic methods of the mystics?”
the very way that he expresses the questions already has baked into it a negative verdict!!
It’s the sort of do you still beat your wife type of the question has a falsehood in a presupposition baked into the very question itself
like a game that has losing already woven into it
it is a game that is designed for you to lose
the very way that the question is posed already contains the negative bias against the visionary plants
the false presuppositions are already integrated into the very formulation of the question
John Lash very much bothers me the way that he keeps far too much credit to Wasson and
both Wasson and John lash they both know in fact they both know the fact of the matter
they both know perfectly well that there are mushrooms in Christianity and both of them sensor with the total information blackout
the great information blackout
the Christianity gap
John Lash and Wasson the great Christianity gap and blackout
in fact it’s a blackout and
we have different flavor of motives:
the church has one reason to suppress and deny mushrooms
butt Wasson has a different reason to suppress and deny Mushrooms in Christianity
and John lash has a different reason to suppress and deny Christians Mushrooms
and science Modern 1700 enlightenment science has a different reason to deny and suppress Mushrooms
and goddamnit everybody every idiot every clown every stupid bunk field
everybody has their own unique reason for suppressing and denying Mushrooms in Christianity
the great massive bias and huge conspiracy by everybody
and John Rush has his reasons to deny and suppress Mushrooms in Christianity
and Jan irvin has his own reasons to deny and suppress the Central presence of mushrooms within Christianity
and everybody has their reasons to deny and suppress Mushrooms in Christianity
and Dr. Secret Amanita Carl Ruck has his own reasons to try to minimize and sideline and emphasize the absence rather than the presence presence of mushrooms in Christianity
everybody is all conspiring to minimize and suppress and deny and delete mushrooms from Christianity
idiots!
and they are all directly causing the prohibition of psilocybin !
the great self defeat
Everybody is conspiring to be self-defeating and to establish and set up and justify and propagate and perpetuate psilocybin Prohibition
John Lash tries to perpetuate Prohibition and Wasson tries and strive and Irvin and Rush and ruck and everybody and all of the entheogen scholars except for Samorini and brown, they all conspire
and organized religion conspires
and modern enlightenment science conspires
and everybody conspires to tell the false narrative and to tell the courts the lie, that our own religious tradition has no mushrooms, or has very few, and
we want to emphasize that our own religion history is founded on the denial and suppression and deletion of mushrooms from Christianity
and everybody wants to emphasize the lack, the absence rather than the presence of mushrooms, of psilocybin with in the tradition
THE POISON NARRATIVE THAT PROPS UP PSILOCYBIN PROHIBITION
and they even use evidence and mushroom art to prop up and perpetuate this narrative which is self-defeating and harmful and perpetuates the prohibition scam sham Prohibition of Psilocybin by all conspiring to agree and
everybody tells the same false narrative
everybody is committed to the story that Christianity is all about removing and deleting Mushrooms
this is the great Christianity gap or the great conspiracy to misrepresent – and a commitment to not seeing and not Recognizing the central Presence of Mushrooms – *Psilocybin* Mushrooms because
if I don’t say psilocybin, then you will be forced to picture amanit emoji
“mushroom” = 🍄 , So you force me to say Psilocybin, because if I don’t , you will absolutely say/hear Amanita a million times
I see the word mushroom, you hear the word Amanita
and that’s why I cannot say mushroom; I have to say Psilocybin, to break your stupid ruts of thinking, your Dr. Rut’s rut of thinking
As surely as a mushroom-tree artist forces you to think mushrooms, and they must take responsibility for that, similarly, when I say the word ‘mushroom’, that will force you to wrongly think of the word ‘Amanita’ and to definitely not think at all of psilocybin type mushrooms
I want to read John lash book pages about the lion headed serpent monster which Sophia creates when not factoring in the Higher source of control thoughts
and also read Metzner but really I’ve been wanting more books by Ralph Metzner and two or three books by him are strongly recommended by John Lash
a big topic of conversation is : do we have to think of Wasson as evil per Irvin?
and what do we do with this problem of John lash trying to give an insane amount of credit and credit the entire entheogen theory 100% to Wasson ,
At the overall narrative level john lash literally calls via entheogen theory he literally calls it “the wasson theory” – that bugs the hell out of me, that really is grating. it would take a while to work out the ideas of why why it is so wrong the way that John lash so absolutely labels and equates the Theory and gives entire credit to the very guy well a big question is did Wassen he is so evasive on this did Wason explicitly deny so put the question to him the question the question is the question of all questions is:
Wasson & Lash, please answer The Question:
To what extent Psilocybin and Muscimol mushrooms within the church throughout Christian history?
please do not employ the word ‘secret’ or ‘cult’ in your answer
There is a simple trail that leads to the accuracy of the Entheogen Theory of religion. No one needs to blame the church for what is forgotten, for it is within the church teachings, specifically Catholicism, that keeps the trail clear.
It starts with the Eucharist and the use of the word ‘transubstantiation ‘ in catholicism, which is the word that is perfectly carried over through time and boundaries, and, which highlights the transformative power of the Eucharist, the body of ‘Christ’. The etiology of the word ‘Christ’ comes from the Greek word, ‘kristos,’ meaning, ‘anointed one’. Anointing is part of the early authentic religious practices, which include entheogens as the catalyst for transformation. The scent of incense still lingers within the Church walls of our genetic structures. From that clarity, it isn’t so difficult to understand that the ‘Authentic Eucharist’ was entheogenic. And since you, Michael, have proven well beyond any doubt through Christian art, that Psilocybin was the mushroom used in Christianity, then what else needs to be said. No one needs a PhD in science or any other field to understand this.
The one question might remain as to why authentic religion is not an active part of church practices in modernity. But that doesn’t really need a specific answer, when taking into consideration the political greed, exploitation, and desire for power within the world of possibilism.
What is most important is that humanity’s authentic core of spirituality has been revealed, and the boundaries removed between generations upon generations upon generations.
